Hi

My choc lab has had some initial treatment for suspected early OCD in her front legs, she seems to be fine at the moment but we (and the vets) would like to get her x-ray'd to double check.

When checking with the insurance policy it turns out that it has a 14 day exclusion period at the start of it. We noticed the limping on the 15th day of the policy (sunday) and took her to the vets the next day (monday). The vets notes mentions the condition may have been present for 3-5 days - so within this exclusion period.

Are the insurers likely to reject the claim for treatment ? Stupid thing is if I'd just extended her original Kennel Club insurance there wouldn't have been an issue.

Thanks

Insurance companies will always do their level best to get out of paying I would think.

Give them a ring and have a chat with someone, see what they say.

That's usually the way- we switched to pet plan from kennel club because it went from £13 per month straight up to £19 per month at age 1 and we'd never even made a claim! Typically though, Ailsa contracted a follicle problem whilst still under kennel club insurance and which recurred last month for the first time in nearly 6 years) I cant claim for it, of course and have still never made an insurance claim for her but petplan insurance now is over £30 per month.

I think you may have a big problem. If I was you I would have a word with the vet about what he will actualy tell your Insurance company about when the Injury happened and when you noticed it ;)
