I'm flying from Manchester airport on the 10th June. I've been on their web site to see how much parking will be for 2 weeks, and its nearly £100! Does anyone know any cheaper parking close to Manchester that will take you from the car park to the airport and pick you up again on your return?

Thanks for your help.

There are a few companies around the airport who own 24 hour manned compounds where you can leave your car and they mini-bus you to the airport.

I used one last year but I can't recall the same. If anyone else finds out and lists them, I'll let you know which one I used. They were very good - cheap and no waiting.

Try BCP Online. We have used them a number of times and they were brill. They keep your car in a compound and have a bus to take you to and from the airport.

Zippy, have a look at using one of the local taxi firms that do Manchester Airport, you might find it's almost as cheap to use them instead of parking at the airport with the added bonus of not having to worry about your car getting banged in the car park. PM me if you want the name of one that we use.

Just noticed you only have one posting, and you need five to be able to use the PMs :(

Thanks for that link NicoleM, I used Carminder!

We found them really reasonable and were really secure. The buses were there as soon as you had got your luggage and left the customs area as well. Once your on your way back you just wanna get home!

I have used Airparks at manchester airport a few times. And they are great, and offer help in starting your car if you should need it.
I once used another one at manchester and it was remote and there was nobody on site to help and my battery was flat and I had to pay a local breaktown truck 40 odd pounds to jump start me.
At airparks there are always a few personnel there.

The bus back to the terminal is about every 10-15 minutes

If you are on travelling alone the train from sheffield is a good option and goes straight into the airport. If with a family not so cheap

Hazel, there's a good taxi company in Chesterfield who only charge (I think) £75 pounds to Manchester and they pick you up and drop you off on your return at your door. I think that's better value than paying to park at the Airport car parks, and you can have a sherbert or two on the flight home too.

Thanks owdlad, don't travel now as often and as far as a used to but will pm you if I need it. You prob have far more sense than me, I trained it from sheff, flew to sydney via Dubai and Singapore and flew on to Newcastle Oz, could have made it easier, cos I bused it from home too. Thats me always the hard way

I took the train to Manchester Airport ( bit difficult because of Christmas engineering works - but the replacement bus was fine.) On the way back direct from Manchester Airport to Sheffield (also calls in at Meadowhall on the way to the east Coast, I think).

It was only £19.40 - better than £100 for parking!

that's great providing you don't have 3 kids and a wife that insists she really needs everything in the 3 suitcases and 2 pieces of hand luggage.

You also have to get to the Station, and that's not easy. :)

Especially as they built the tram stop right outside  and Sheffield has no taxis?

How about hiring a car? One way there and one way back? Just leave it with the hire company. And they usually have the carparks nearest to the entrance :D

How much would it be to pay the supplement to change airports? Is there a relative who could run you?

How much would it cost to add somebody to your insurance for two weeks, and lend them your car whilst you're away provided they run you there and back? (we did this once)

I take friends to the airport and pick them up, they do the same for me in return - cheaper and easier.

Yeah, and the tram goes to so many front doors
 and while your paying for a taxi to take you to the station and wait & hope that the train will get you there on time you might as well just book the taxi direct. :(

Apart from the £90 price difference?

Hi, thanks for all your replys. I dont really want to go on the train, its a stressful enough experience without adding to it! I've had a look on some of those links and I can get parking for £60 which is a huge saving. I'm going to book next week.
Thanks again.

There are loads of sites doing airport parking and they all seem to charge different amounts!

The cheapest in my experience would be to go to the airports website at www.manchesterairport.co.uk and try booking there. They are normally cheaper.
