I recently returned from visiting family in the States, while I was there I fell in love with the iphone

Honestly it is sooooooo cool!! I am thinking of getting one asap!

I understand that when it is launched in the UK in November, 02 will have the exclusive carrier rights. Does anyone know how long this is likely to be the case?

I have a great deal with T-mobile at the moment and although I can opt out and join 02 I would rather stay where I am if possible.

I have spoken to T-mobile and they apparently have no idea when/if they will be able to offer the iphone. The guy I spoke to suggested that I replace the sim card with my current one. Does anyone know if this will actually work? I am guessing that the wifi will only work with 02??

I don't think that just switching the SIM will work with an iPhone.

Clever Apple will have locked the hardware to the chosen supplier, I'd have thought.

I think that :huh:Carphone Warehouse doesn't lock their handsets to particularnetworks but you are probably right about apple!

t-m have a brand new smartphone out (the vario iii) which is much better than the iphone in my view. It is based on the HTC Kaiser.

o2 is also bringing out a variant of this, suggesting that they are hedging their bets about the iphone. They may of course appeal to different markets, but I think you should at least check out the vario iii before deciding to leave t-m

Just a word of warning for anyone thinking of unlocking their nice new expensive Apple iPhone from the BBC
