So a match has just ended which Arsenal dominated, played like the home side, and should have won easily - those two shots hitting the post and Arsenal making a mess of the rebounds. There it is - 63% possession. Liverpool's title hopes should have been firmly put to bed, leaving a two horse race between Arsenal and Man Utd, with a possibilty of Chelsea making it a three horse race.

One of the sure-fire signs of a title-winning side is that it can play badly and still not get beat...

Liverpool played badly, didn't get beat, but won't win the title. There's no way they'll finish in front of Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea.

Maybe not, but Liverpool were not so bad today. Although the posession stats went to Arsenal, Pepe was the keeper who actually had the least to do.
Arsenal not being able to convert chances from post rebounds is not Liverpools fault, it's Arsenals but they were immense today. To say Liverpool met an Arsenal team that is flying and full of confidence, when themselves have been struggling and severely lacking in confidence..... I don't think they did too bad. 12 minutes away from victory and still undefeated in the league having already played Arsenal and Chelsea? Not too bad really is it?

I thought Liverpool played like a team that expected to lose. Only Gerrard looked like he thought they had a chance. Arsenal were excellent to watch, they lacked something up front but looked in control to me. But for an appalling attempt at a wall I don't think they'd have conceded.

Carragher needs to learn not to tug every shirt that comes near him or he could cost Liverpool, he puts his body on the line for his club which I admire but he needs to control his grabby hands :)

But for an appalling attempt at a wall I don't think they'd have conceded.:)
And the two outstanding saves by the Arsenal keeper? One from Gerrard the other from Crouch? Then there was the chance in the last few minutes when Gerrard broke free but went a little wide! If he had not had that final touch and shot instead, it could have been game over!

Carragher needs to learn not to tug every shirt that comes near him or he could cost Liverpool, he puts his body on the line for his club which I admire but he needs to control his grabby hands :)
Agreed. He does seem to be doing this on a regular basis. He won't get away with it much more now that it has been highlighted! The referee's will now be looking for it. Carra.... Take note fella!

Carragher got away with murder last week when he pulled down Lescot in last few mins and did the same today, fair shout Gerrards goal was a corker but Arsenal and Man Utd are playing at another Level compared to Liverpool and Chelsea are finding their feet after ousting the special one.
With the money they have spent Liverpool should be not only pushing for the premiership but Champions League as well but it aint gonna happen this season and not in the future because they have detracted from their boot room philosophy.
Foreign Owners and Foreign Managers bring Foreign Beliefs which was never the Liverpool way.Nowadays they try and buy their way to success instead of grooming young players and it aint workin.
Torres.......£22 million but doesnt play regularly
Voronin........who???
Crouch........Better than the above but doesnt get a game
Pennant............how much???
Morientes.....a Great Forward but crap at Liverpool
Kewell............."ouch that hurts"
List is Endless
They need to start lookin to groom young blood instead of trying to buy success

And LFC....................DONT bite,its an opinion!!!

Does that include Carragher trying to swap shorts with Lescott a week ago last Saturday?

Arsenal and Man Utd are playing at another Level compared to Liverpool
Totally agree!!
Foreign Owners and Foreign Managers bring Foreign Beliefs which was never the Liverpool way.
Times have changed mate, and so has the styles of football! Only Fergie (and he's Scottish) remains from the old school managers! Beyond him, the best managers are all foreign!
Nowadays they try and buy their way to success instead of grooming young players and it aint workin.Liverpool have had a fairly succesfull production line! Better than most! Carra, Gerrard, Owen, Mcmanaman and Fowler were all kids brought through the youth system! The past two seasons have seen Rafa go out and buy numerous youngsters from around the world. Some are progressing very nicely but it will take time, as it did for the crop that just coming through at Arsenal now! Developing youngsters into good Premiership players doesn't happen overnight Briggy and Rafa has only been at Liverpool for 3 years..... Give him chance hey? Wenger, Fergie etc have all had 10 years plus to build their first team and youth system, Fergie nearly 20 years. You say Liverpool have tried to buy their way to success and to some extent that is true, but look at who Liverpools rivals are and how much they have spent and how long their managers have had to build their teams into what they are today? Can you see what Rafa has been up against?
Torres.......£22 million but doesnt play regularly
But he does, he has been injured. Hardly his fault. Prior to his injury, Torres had started all but 2 Premiership games. The games he didn't start he was a substitute, coming on each time with 30 minutes remaining. In theory, Torres has missed just 1 1/4 Premiership games all season! How is that not regular?
Voronin........who???
Not bad for nothing! Not great for Liverpool!
Crouch........Better than the above but doesnt get a game
Agreed! Crouch should get a chance in the team.
Pennant............how much???
£6m. I bet when he sold it will be for more than £6m!
Morientes.....a Great Forward but crap at Liverpool
Not Liverpools or Rafa's fault! Morientes was/is a world class striker. Who would have guessed that he would have failed in England like he did? Put that one down to bad luck!
Kewell............."ouch that hurts"
List is Endless
Again, when Liverpool bought Kewell he was wanted by all! He is a fine player who has been so unlucky with injuries it's not true! Not Liverpools fault and not one of Rafa's signings!
They need to start lookin to groom young blood instead of trying to buy success
That is exactly why Rafa has gone out and bought what seems like hundreds of youngsters from around the world for next to no money! However, these young players will need time to develop before they are even nearly ready for the first team, just like the youngsters coming through at Arsenal now have needed time!
And LFC....................DONT bite,its an opinion!!!
The above are not BITES!! I'm just telling you how it is :D

You got me thinking though; Rooney looks like the type of guy that because of his weight he can't wear Levis 501 jeans, he needs Levi's 1002's. ;)
Tevez looks like the type of guy that because he's so ugly, when he was a wee lad his mom had to be ****** drunk just to breast feed him.

Good players though :D

Agree with your above posts LFC but the difference between Liverpool now and the likes of Arsenal is that when Wenger took charge Arsenal didnt expect instant success, they were prepared to wait and have been rewarded for it.
Wenger has produced outstanding teams and groomed talented players into World Class Players and maybe given time Benitez could do the same but ever since Liverpool went into American Ownership i dont think they will be prepared to wait.
Liverpool have a struggle to progress to Qualifying into Champions League Knockout this year which will cost them millions and personally think that if they dont win the Premiership in the next 3 years that Benitez will be on his way
Yes hes a good manager but he tinkers too much when its not needed, and why he plays Voronin in front of Crouch is beyond reasonable thinking.

Show me where I said Everton shouldn't have had atleast one penalty?
I never said that! I thought they should have had a penalty and I said so, here:
I agree with everyones views that Everton can feel really hardly done by, and the fact that I have repeatably admitted that Kuyt was lucky not to be sent off and that Carragher was lucky not to have given away a penalty? Both those events, I have said, were bad refereeing decisions.
and here:
Carragher was a very lucky boy! Had the referee pointed to the spot, nobody could have had any complaints. Why the referee didn't give it I don't know.
I could go on as I have admitted this fact many times!

Now now Firecracker, you really don't have to make things up. It's not big and it's not clever :P

We only need to read the later pages of this thread http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=268475 and we can see how you tried to defend the indefensible. Everton deserved two penalties, but still you defend the referee.

Clutching at straws hey Cracker? I defended the incident regarding Gerrard and the red card, not the penalty incidents. I am saying to you fella..... Everton were very unlucky not to be awarded a penalty!
You're argueing over something I agree with you on. Let's just drop it there hey matey?
