View Full Version : Stupid PC Reprimands

Are you a victim of a stupid reprimand because it was not PC in the workplace?

I was just reprimanded for the following: Two women coworkers came into my office; pulled down their jeans and asked me which underpants I liked best. My reply got out into the gossip mill and later that day I got reprimanded. The women did not. This does not seem fair that they picked on only the guy.

Has anyone else had similar reprimands?

Nope.

Depending on the level of reprimand, and your desire to pursue it - you could try reporting your coworkers for sexual harassment and entrapment.

Try going into their office and dropping yours. If you get reprimanded again sue them for sexism.

People being PC winds me up, especially when people misunderstand\misuse the term.

Well, there's the normal courteous PC, which has always been around and isn't actually being PC, it's being a civil human being.

The PC I object to is the way OTT application of it since someone invented political correctness.

I am not particularly PC and get some scowls after some comments when I'm allowed out in public!

I acn't honestly believe that you got a reprimand for that!

Hope you're going to make a big fecking fuss about it.

Political Correctness never served to get man kind any further on in life, it only serves to make the weaker stronger.

Personally I find it depressing that PC is always used to do people down arther than lift them up...what right did anyone have to beat this guy up over the incident when the women involved instigated it?

I would totally lose it! That's stupid!!

If women like those want equal rights (which they should have) then it should go both ways.

I think Lurch's plan sounds best to me, you and a male workmate go into their office, drops yours and ask whose underwear they prefer.

If you get a "telling off" for it, sue for sexual discrimination in the workplace.

...REALLY annoys me things like this

I wonder if the person that handed the reprimand out was male or female, as I have mentioned it seems that the women involved were not the ones that forced the issue and punished the guy in question.

So was it an overly zealous female boss that gave it out, or a male boss who was probably trying to garner a reputation in the eyes of his superiors at this poor bloke's expense?

Hmmm....the OP doesn't say what his reply was, so we don't know why he was reprimanded.

I've been holding doors open for people following me in shops and the workplace etc. for 45 years or more and never been moaned at once. Both men and women usually thank me...the ones who don't seem to be teenage girls - perhaps they're too shocked to say anything  , but more likely so engrossed in their own little world they just don't notice.

A telling off, a verbal (or written) bollocking.

Written reprimands are worse cos they go on file, so your next employer can see that you've got done for something at your previous work.

You're right about teenage girls. However, knowing a fair few (my sister and her gang) I would say it's 'teenage rebellion', but they don't like to mention it because it makes it sound like it's expected behaviour ;)

The worst I experienced was when I saw a woman trying to get into Boots and Meadowhell with a double buggy (forwards, for some bizarre reason). I held the door open for her, and she scowled and me and continued struggling at a different, still closed, door! You can't win sometimes...

I've often wondered how the new employer gets hold of these 'written records'. AFAIK there is no government database of transgressions in the workplace.

I had a verbal and written warning on the same day at my last employment! They were both overturned a month later when it was finally proven (to my benefit) that the HR director was a nasty scheming s***e and that I was actually quite a good employee. He was fired within 6 months for other reasons. As far as I am aware, the records stayed 'on file', but nobody has ever checked them out. I wouldn't use anyone at that firm as a reference anyway!

Yes mate, 15 years of discrimination working in the female orientated NHS.
Don't mention double standards to me!
If it wasn't for Double Standards, certain hospital departments would have No standards at all!!!:D

Hi Chicago - what was your reply??? I can't think of anything that would mean you got a repremand and not the two women who so obviously were the one's who started the whole thing.

I'd put in a complaint if I were you, to someone in authority (if there is anyone)?

and what were two women doing wearing underpants anyway???
