Eh? purdyamos 26-10-2007, 20:19 I love how when a butterfly flaps its wings in Brazil the entire city grinds to a traffic-clogged standstill. xxsarahxx 26-10-2007, 20:36 i love all the dog crap that my kids stand in every morning cos its smeared all over that paths on the way to school....:hihi: but on a serious note i do love the peace gardens in the summer..:) Jason Bourne 26-10-2007, 20:38 I just love the way Sheffielders are just so eternally optimistic and never let anything get them down  stevierob86 27-10-2007, 13:30 Hendersons Relish! Sheffield United! Mucky Women! Thats what I love about Sheffield! Longcol 27-10-2007, 14:01 The fantastic views you get across the city - in most other places you can only see across the street. Jason Bourne 27-10-2007, 14:44 The fantastic views you get across the city - in most other places you can only see across the street. You're joking, aren't you? Unless you're on top of a hill, your view will be obscured... by a hill! If you want to see the sky, you have to look upwards! purdyamos 27-10-2007, 14:54 You're joking, aren't you? Unless you're on top of a hill, your view will be obscured... by a hill! If you want to see the sky, you have to look upwards! I live near Waitrose (not in the tower blocks) and I can seeeverything up to the University across to Lodge Moor from one side. The other side's more restricted by buildings, but I can see Norton watertower, Meersbrook Park, right across to The Manor (as in the tower). I've lived other places with sweeping views. It's not uncommon. Agent Orange 27-10-2007, 15:03 I love the northern charm and the southern women who like appreciate it ;) :D Jason Bourne 27-10-2007, 15:12 I live near Waitrose (not in the tower blocks) If that was an attempt as snobbyness, it was completely lost on me ;) (joking, honestly I was) and I can seeeverything up to the University across to Lodge Moor from one side. The other side's more restricted by buildings, but I can see Norton watertower, Meersbrook Park, right across to The Manor (as in the tower). I've lived other places with sweeping views. It's not uncommon. OK, I agree that if you're (a) close enough to the city centre and (b) high enough off the ground, then yes, you'll get some incredible views. However, comparing it to other parts of the city, Darnall / Attercliffe is too flat to get a decent view and many parts of North Sheffield have nothing worth looking at :D Norfolk Park and the Cholera Monument - some great views of the city centre from there. purdyamos 27-10-2007, 16:27 If that was an attempt as snobbyness, it was completely lost on me ;) (joking, honestly I was) Oops, re-reading it I can see how it could be read that way! Longcol 27-10-2007, 16:59 OK, I agree that if you're (a) close enough to the city centre and (b) high enough off the ground, then yes, you'll get some incredible views. I think it applies to well over 50% of the city - more or less everywhere in the west and south of the city plus a fair bit of the rest. And nobody has to travel more than a couple of miles to be somewhere with a great view. |
