Hi all, has anyone got any information on the Ball Inn Upwell street Grimesthorpe, like what it was called before it became the ball inn, any ols history of the place, people who lived there etc.

Grimesthorpe does have it's own history group. If I get a chance I'll try and find out for you. I have lived at Grimesthorpe since I was four only moving away when I got Married. My Dad still lives there and my sister frequents the ball.Gwyneth.

Re the Ball Inn 66 Upwell Street:

A distant relative of mine James Hall was the landlord in 1881 but by 1891 it was Robert Farnsworth. James Hall was born In Grimesthorpe in 1817 and died in 1897. He was buried in St.Thomas Brightside churchyard
