I was just checking out the new gfx cards on offer and read about this new card. Checked ebuyer.com [the ONLY place to buy pc sh*t online) and was shocked at the price:

Is this card worth £482.64 inc VAT ?

Not a misprice just an expensive card, if you have the cash those cards are great. Probably be outdated in a few days time though :heyhey:

Don't you think graphic cards and game programers are getting really stupid now I bought Silenthill 3 just before christmas and it wouldn't run on anything under a 256m graphics card. Come on the bloody thing works on a play station and a X box, and I bet you would be lucky to have a 64m graphic's card in them.

Wow thanx. I was going to pay another £100 !

I think im gonna wait for this card anyway. Its way too much right now and my XFX Geforce FX 5700LE 256mb is doing alrite for now. Ill just a new CPU and another 256mb ram before that card. My pc is always rebooting itself and i want more power and an overall speed increase.

Xbox and Ps2 run at TV resolution which is very low. Your trying to run it at a minimum of 640x480, usually higher, alot more processing required.

what are you on about neeek? Im talking about my PC resetting itself, not my tv or games console! :loopy:

I think he was repsonding to a comment in the other graphics card thread you started. I've been following both but didn't realise he'd replied in the wrong one and didn't notice either until you made your comment!

As they are similar, perhaps the mods could merge the two?

Opps, seem to be in the wrong thread...
Oh well... someone somewhere was comenting on consoles running stuff easily. Might have been Bikertec. I would get your PC resetting problem sorted before spending 300 quid on a video card. You might just ed up with a PC with a really good videocard that resets itself all the time!

I thought he was responding to Bikertec comment about Silent Hill.

I am so far happy with my FX5700.

Is the XFX worth it, de[pends if you can afford it.

Not worth it, XFX are a budget brand (nothing wrong with them, I have an XFX FX5900 XT which is convinced it's an ultra...) & the Asus one http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=4838124930&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=83436 is cheaper...

Unless it's a "Golden Sample" one & the specs are misprinted, seen one with a water cooling block for £700+

Insight's cheaper:

Which is what made me think it's a mis-print, ebuyer/scan/insight usually have prices that are pretty much identical.

The company I work for does about £10000 a year on PC bits, ebuyer is the best I've encountered because when you send something faulty back they tend to believe you, I've had a week long argument with Scan before about a motherboard...

The XFX one is still overpriced anyway, can get a Gainward Golden Sample model cheaper, which'd kick it's (relatively) scrawny butt...

ebay is not bad you know! (http://search.ebay.co.uk/GeForce-6800GT_W0QQfromZR40QQsojsZ1)

Hmm, it'd be good if it stuck at £200. But yeh right, don't hold your breath for all 6 days...

& I'd rather buy hardware from somewhere I know, you're not exactly saving £££'s if it doesn't work are you?

Im getting another 256MB of RAM and a new CPU (i think its that thats causing the resetting as i overclocked it a bit) before i get a new card.
