What the hell do you do if ure one of the type who cant go to bed easily cos they dont feel tired, and then just cannot get out of bed either? I always leave it till the very last possible minute to get up and its not doing me any good. But i just cant help it!!

set the alarm on your phone then before you go to bed put it in a really random hidden place.

having to use your brain just that little bit extra to find it wakes me up a treat

Get yourself a toddler. That will soon sort your problems out

This worked for me too - putting the alarm somewhere I HAD to get out of bed to turn it off! Try and choose the loudest most annoying tone you can :D

I've got the same problem Fate. It's a real issue. I only live 20 mins away from work, and I manage to get there late almost every day. Not good!

Apparently the human internal clock runs on a 25 hour cycle, so if there were no daylight and night to seperate the days, then we would drift to slighly longer days and nights anyhow.

If you are the kind of person that has difficulty sleeping, I would suggest that you don't watch TV for an hour before bed and go for a walk for 45 minutes. If you are still not sleepy, have a hot bath. If you are still not sleepy, then it's time for some whisky!

Never mind all that messing about - start with the whiskey! :D

I have a radio alarm clock (local radio is especially annoying). Place the alarm clock across the other side of the room, set volume to max. :o

There....youre out of bed - just dont get back IN!

This is always my problem, especially after I've dragged myself out of the shower and its cold in my room... I'll just snuggle under this duvet for five minutes and warm up a bit... then I'll get up... I need to let my hair dry a bit anyway... mmm nice and toasty in here...... zzzzzzzzzzzzzz :P

Why not make sure the heating has really warmed up your room, for when you wake.
Even put some of your clothes on the radiator.
Then the transition from cosy duvet to cold person getting dressed won't be so bad.

When I was a penniless student, and we couldn't afford to use the heating, more than once I slept in my socks...

Yep, I'm pretty random in my getting up tgimes! I always find the old 'mobile phone across the other side of the room with alarm set' trick works best for me.

LMAO I am SO glad I re-read the title of this thread before posting... for some reason I read it as:

"cant get it up in the morning" lol... I was gonna say you should see a doctor at your age if you cant get it up... lol

I find having a second alarm clock and setting it two or three hours before normal wake-up time works.

I'm sure it's purely psychological, but having that 'extra' couple of hours makes the difference and I feel much better when the 'real' alarm goes off!

Drink a pint of water just before you go to sleep.

Nothing gets you out of bed in the morning better then the call of nature.

Try this - the alarm goes off, you get up, simple.

What you also need to do is try and find out why you have trouble going to sleep in the first place - is the pc the last thing you turn off? I find I have trouble if I've turned it off then gone straight to bed, need a half hour to completely chill.

Me too. Getting out of bed just doesn't seem like an option until the last possible minute.

Well, here am I posting to sheffieldforum and it's 11:30pm. I have work at 08:00am. In order to get there on time, fed, watered and clean, I need to be up at 06:30 ideally.

Most days I get up at about 07:55 and make use of flexitime but I really shouldn't. I've tried the random phone thing. My phone has the most awful raucus alarm tone EVER (wakes the neighbours up) but I can actually sleep through it. I also have a toddler. Still nothing.

Guess I'll just have to start setting the wallclock an hour fast or something.

Try changing your sleeping pattern so your more tired when you do go to bed. If you do it correctly you won't even need an alarm to wake up in the morning.

Similar. I have work at 9 and really need to be up at 7:30 latest to get ready, have some breakfast and be out of the house to catch the bus for 8:05. Ive been getting up at 7:45-7:55 most mornings, rushing to get ready, having no breakfast, and missing the bus every morning.

I get up at 4:55 am and get straight in the shower. I find the lure of the lovely hot water so tempting, that getting out of bed poses no problem for me.

Unless I've got a hangover, of course.

I used to be the worst person ever at getting up (I used to sleep until 2pm) now my lovely g/f wakes me up at 07:15 with a cup of tea and puts the telly on, I feel mean wasting the tea after she has made it so i force myself to sit up and drink it while watching TV. By the time I've watched Friends and Everybody Loves Raymond I'm wide awake and feel ready to set off to uni. Its the only thing that works for me, I sleep through all alarms known to man.

I have the exact same problem Fate, the trouble is right now i have no place i have to be - a job (I don't have one) or uni ( i don't start til this monday) and so i don't HAVE to get up - trouble is those wasted morning hours are when i shoul dbe doing coursework - which isn't getting done.

Its strange, i went to bed nearly 2 hours early last nite. 10:30, and it made it harder to get up! My dad says i just need to get into a routine with early times of going to bed. and not be on the comp last.
