View Full Version : Middlewood Fish and Chip Shop recommendations
Dark Moomin 25-10-2007, 13:21 I have been hankering after fish and chips for weeks... but one of the main things holding me back is not wantoing to be disappointed!
Can anyone recommend a good chippy near to Wadsley Part Village?
fox20thc 25-10-2007, 13:22 Ooo well the only one closeish is the Golden House but I don't reckon they're that spectacular. The fish bar on Middlewood road isn't bad opposite the old post office.
Dark Moomin 25-10-2007, 13:24 ok Foxy, you've stumped me! where is the fish bar on Middlewood road?
fox20thc 25-10-2007, 13:39 Just up from Canton King. Run by a lovely turkish family - Its big enough :hihi:
Dark Moomin 25-10-2007, 14:02 well I know where the Canton King is so should be able to find it!! Cheers!
Would strongly advise a visit to the FOUR LANES chip shop just around the corner from butterworth cycles on the corner of catch bar lane and leppings lane.
Went there twice this week and they were truly awsome both times :)

The chippy you are on about is the jolly frier,it was a top chip shop when the last owner had it, now it is rubbish.

Never ever got to the Canton King, it is disgusting, if you ever want a Chinese, go to the Hoo Wah or Hei Moon restaurant it does take-away (my favourite).
For Fish & Chips around the Middlewood area use Four Lanes on Leppings Lane opposite the Gas Showroom, I know the owner he's a top man and it's a cracking fish and chip shop, and believe me i'm fussy.

Not sure if FOUR LANES open in the evening to be honest but I'm sure they will.
