Hi,

This weekend, our parents and in-laws to be are meeting at the Yorkshire Sculpture park to celebrate our enagement. The YSP is always a great day out, and I've really enjoyed past visits....

....but can anyone suggest a pub or restaurant in the vicinity that does good food? Something of the posh slap up variety would be ideal. Any help much appreciated, otherwise it's Woodall Services cafe, and that's not a good way to start married life!!

The YSP is just off J38 of the M1 (http://www.ysp.co.uk)

Any help much appreciated :-)

YSP has its own very fancy cafeteria. It has a very nice balcony looking out over the fields. It would certainly be better than a transport caff. :)

The Three Acres near Elmley is worth a slight detour to impress your folks!!

Recently went to The Old Post Office, just off the M1 exit for the Sculpture Park (turn sharp left at the bottom of the slip road going north). The meal was very acceptable, if slightly pricey. Mind you there was more than enough on the plate, if you don't mind very large chips.

Try the pub in Cawthorne (It might be the Spencer Arms). It's not that far to the sculpture park.

As the second poster said the YSP cafe is superb, in fact it is probably worth a trip from Sheffield just for it, given its gorgeous view.

The YSP also has a fab exhibition on at the minute by Andy Goldsworthy, who sculpts using natural materials like twigs, mud, logs etc. Enjoy your day.

Thanks for all your suggestions so far guys: much appreciated.

I especially like the idea of mcdonalds.... Now that'd go down a treat ;-)
