View Full Version : Chav Culture In Meersbrook
I'm soon moving to just off Valley Road, and have heard conflicting reports from people who live in the area about the Cahv scene round there. Some say there are loads, others say there are a few, but mostly a lot younger than 16-17 and harmless, others say there are none at all.
Can anyone give me an opinion if they live in the area.
Also, is Meersbrook Park a safe place?

Apart from the flasher!!!
search threads for more details.
Chav culture! well the only chavs around here seem to be the young teenagers, not anything that Ive found need to complain about.
As for the park, I very rarely use it, but wouldn't risk it in the dark, then again I wouldn't risk anywhere in the dark!

They have no culture.
It's more Chav Lifestyle

Culture/Lifestyle, same difference really. But thanks for the comedic genius......:shakes:
Don_Kiddick 24-10-2007, 10:26 lifestyle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lifestyle)
In sociology, a lifestyle is the way a person lives. This includes patterns of social relations, consumption, entertainment, and dress. A lifestyle typically also reflects an individual's attitudes, values or worldview.
Having a specific "lifestyle" means engaging in a characteristic bundle of behaviors that makes sense to both others and the self in different times and places
Culture (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culture)
Culture is manifested in music, literature, painting and sculpture, theater and film.
Is where I was going.
But never mind - enjoy your move. I'd upgrade your Corsa just in case ;)

Ah but in the context I originally posted, it was clear what I meant Mr Retentive :)
And I don't drive a Corsa, I have a Nova with a "phat" spoiler. Safe.
Don_Kiddick 24-10-2007, 11:06 Ah quick with the big words yet semi literate with the delivery
it was clear was I meant
.
I'm beginning to think your OP is more a you looking for a troop (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baboon) to join than anything.
Nova eh?
Way to go mate - Further up the food chain than I gave you credit for. :D
Yog Sothoth 24-10-2007, 11:07 I cycle home up the park from Valley Road up to Warminster Road quite a lot, and have never had any problem. The odd group of teenage lads acting tough and staring, and once a bit of pisstaking about my cycling shorts, but I just had a laugh with them that time. To be honest that's what you might get anywhere.
I've seen some shameful vandalism in the park though - trees stripped of bark and benches damaged, but again, you get that anywhere these days.

I live at the top end of the park. I've never seen any problems at all. Certainly nothing you wouldn't find around Endcliffe Park or any of the other parks.
There were some problems with lippy kids hanging around the shops near Valley Road a few years ago, and a few asbos were served. But that problem seems to have largely cleared up.

Ah, I see the SF clique attacks have already jumped into action to defend eachother. How sweet.

Nice to see you are taking an almost investigative approach to try and get one up on me. I'm flattered by the effort you are showing :help:

I too am flattered if you think I operate a clique.
Friends however are something you may have little experience of but what you have just seen is simply a manifistation of just that.
Are you Mr Logic from Viz by any chance?

I never said that, nor did I even imply it. If you insist on continuing with this argument, then please try to base your retorts on substance, not assumptions. :)

Erm, I don't read Viz magazine actually, but I will do a quick google later on to enable me to grasp your point with more understanding.

Would have thought "Chav Culture" is more of an oxymoron?:hihi:
bannercroob 24-10-2007, 12:01 Don, i can't believe you go looking through people's posts looking for mistakes. That is tragic.

Shouldn't that be an uppercase 'I'?

ha nice:hihi:
Think you've slightly lost the point here...
Going back to the original question, there are some groups of little scrotes that hang around in the park but i've never really thought that its much of a problem. Every now and then they seem to have one too many alco-pops and think its fun to start screaming and shouting at each other. They're just normal annoying teenagers with nothing else to do, and their parents probably don't give a **** where they are either.
:hihi::hihi::hihi:

Have a nice day, Don. :hihi::wave::headbang:
