Lodge Moor is quite exposed yet seems to have got away unscathed. But there were quite a few branches and fences torn down elsewhere and ofcause, people's wheelie bins resembled plastic tumble weed rolling down the streets near to where I work. Anybody reckon this weather might be some kind of knock-on from the Tsunami? slh73 22-01-2005, 08:24 knocked 3 panels out of my back fence, sent both wheelie bins flying to the other end of the garden. muddycoffee 22-01-2005, 08:31 It seems to me that high up and exposed areas seem to be safer from gales. Because trees in those areas, naturally grow less high and more fat to protect themselves from wind, and rooves and pointing are paid more attention to in any case. In addition people in these areas are less likely to have flimsy garden fencing, and they will not leave garden chairs in the open. PaulTansley 22-01-2005, 14:20 I'm not sure if its true but someone mentioned to me yesterday that the high winds were caused due to a crack in the ice in the Arctic, but can't see any evidence from the scientific know-alls about this. owdlad 22-01-2005, 14:27 Originally posted by Cycleracer I'm not sure if its true but someone mentioned to me yesterday that the high winds were caused due to a crack in the ice in the Arctic, but can't see any evidence from the scientific know-alls about this.
