View Full Version : Any reviews on new home builders? borosi.gigi 22-10-2007, 15:41 Can anyone help me with reviews on STRATA, George Wimpy, Gleesons homes, after sales service, value for money? Thanks tad1 23-10-2007, 18:27 Hi we bought a flat from Gleesons in 2004. EVERY item on the snagging list was ignored. We couldn't get them to do any repairs despite asking for 2 years. The tap in the kitchen looked like the fitter had jumped up and down on it before he installed it. Beware bunnykins 23-10-2007, 18:59 One bit of advice i can give you, go over the house inside and out with a fine toothcomb and also ask to be left to look around and inspect the property in at your own leisure, do not be rushed and never sign until the "snagging" has actually been done, no matter how much pressure the builder tries to put on you to sign. Wizzzard 23-10-2007, 19:23 We're waiting to get in a Strata property, they were very keen to help at first but seem to have cooled off now. Phylis 24-10-2007, 07:00 All new house builders are the same. They are good until they have some of your money and then they dont care. Trust me i work with them. borosi.gigi 24-10-2007, 14:17 Thanks for all your advices. WE found one Strata that we really like, but seems to be more expensive than the other ones (Gleesons, wimpy), and also compared to the other house prices in the area. Wizzard, Are you waiting for one on the heeley estate? nda1970 24-10-2007, 17:18 Wimpey have been quite good for me. They fixed a few problems shortly after I moved in, but now I've been in a couple of months and some of the problems have come back, they don't seem so keen. Wizzzard 24-10-2007, 22:22 No, we found the Heeley ones overpriced and we're aiming at Kiveton. It's a nicer neighbourhood too, more space for your money etc. We love the house but we were hoping for a part ex for a quick sale but they won;t do it because we're ex local authority. Gutted, we wanted to be in for Xmas but now we have to rely on finding a buyer. We're ready to go and part packed. We looked at the Wimpet ones up the road but saw a few things we didn't like, including the tiny houses. Not keen on the Norfolk Park ones so we're going to view the MIller houses at Willow Edge in case Strata get shirty. Didn't like the sales guy at Heeley either! borosi.gigi 25-10-2007, 04:26 Yes, we had a look on wimpy on myrtle rd and gleesons in norfolk park, but strata seemed to be the far best. Although it's much more expensive. seen the miller homes on the net, but the four beds (Keats), that we need is well over our budget. We hoped to get into one before christmas, as having second baby in january, but strata wouldn't be ready before april. While the others are. (but i still prefer strata)Please let me know any more feedback on strata. thanks Wizzzard 25-10-2007, 21:31 Have you had a look at Kiveton? They have some ready, 4 beds, £30k cheaper than Midhill and still only 20 mins down the Parkway. The schools are higher than average in Ofsted reports, crime rates are pretty low, hence the great appeal to us. borosi.gigi 26-10-2007, 14:19 yes, I've had a look, but it's too far for me. All our friends and my partner's parents are living in south west sheffield. And my family being abroad, I'm totally rely on their help, so I really need to be closer. But thanks for the advice. Still would like to know your feedback about strata generally once you moved in. When are you hoping to move into the house? mrmist 27-10-2007, 18:56 We are buying a Persimmon house. The house itself is lovely, and the sales assistant on site is great (well one of them anyway) but the actual head office seems a bit incompetent at times, and have not given us an enjoyable buying experience. bunnykins 27-10-2007, 19:06 We are buying a Persimmon house.
