View Full Version : What Sweets/Chocolate do you miss?
RunningFree 21-01-2005, 15:56 What do you miss that they no longer make.
Mine is a chocalte bar that was called 'Secret'. it was lovely. Came on a cardboard tray with swirls of cholate and a creamy centre. Shame they no longer make them.
What did you like?
Don_Kiddick 21-01-2005, 16:23 Bar Six & Mint Cracknell

Big red cinnamon gum. You can still get it imported from the states from some websites but it costs a bomb. Cinnamon altoids too.
Sam Miguel 21-01-2005, 18:08 None. I don't eat any.

bobsyouruncle 21-01-2005, 20:50 tooty fruities, spangles, toffoes!!!!
Wonka chocolate bars!
Anybody ever try them- the gave Cadburys a good run for their money for me.
They were so nice.
AND also there was some vampire teeth I liked as well but they were completely different to the ones on AQuarterOF.
Been trying to find them for years- If anybody knows where to get them from or if they still do them I would be eternally grateful.
RunningFree 22-01-2005, 07:15 Hmm WONKA bars. I loved them.
Don_Kiddick 22-01-2005, 08:00 Space dust! coloured crystals that you tipped onto your tongue - didn't really have a flavour but did something very strange to the bone-cell structure of your skull!
Ousetunes 22-01-2005, 08:26 Cadbury did a mini Milk Tray as an actual chocolate bar with different shaped segments and obviously, centres. That has always stuck in my mind.
Anybody remember the Haunted House ice lolly that was all white with a green skeleton on it, that disappeared as you licked at it?
You've already mentioned Texan bars. I used to grab one of these from the vending machine at Heeley swimming baths on a Sunday morning. I'm amazed I had any teeth left. It was so tough the chocolate used to shatter as you pulled at it with your teeth!
I also recall, circa 1980, something like Golden Nuggets which were gold pieces of gum that came in a little elasticated paper bag resembling the little bags that folk on the Goldrush would pack their belongings in.
Finally, the original Cresta drinks in some superb flavours. 'It's frothy maaaan!'
The coffee creams in Quality Street/ Roses.

designbunny 22-01-2005, 18:20 There's a great little traditional sweet shop on the corner of Duke St, next to the Ponds Forge roundabout
purplepippa 22-01-2005, 20:35 I thought I missed Caramacs, but I saw them in a shop in the Hallamshire the other day and didn't even buy one.
I do miss Spiras though. Especially drinking a hot chocolate through them like a straw :P
I used to really like Drifters too but don't eat nestle so don't know if they're still around.
I was going to say Wonka bars too lol. :gag:
Same as others - Texan bars.

Ooo yeah - I used to love pacers.
Also I liked sweet cigerettes - not the chocolate ones wrapped in paper but the white ones.
I always wonder why they didn't use the same mix and shape it into something else when it became illeagal to sell them.
I loved the texture and flavour of those things.

Anyone remember Cabana bars. They were like turkish delight except they were coconut and proper chocky bar shaped! mmm!

Ousetunes 24-01-2005, 13:57 The Waggon Wheels you used to get at school, covered in rich chocolate sauce.
Try and break it with your spoon and watch it fly off toward third slip!! Extremely nice though.
And let's hear it for the Spam Fritter (er, that's not cockney rhyming slang, guys!). Yes I not sweets or choccies but it just came into my head for some reason.
jgharston 24-01-2005, 16:22 Creamola Foam. You could only get it in Scotland and the English borders. I used to stock up with it whenever I visited my aunt in Edinburgh. I hear recently that it's been discontinued.
BoppinBruce 21-05-2005, 06:02 Remember Love Hearts? Swizzles still produce them, and in my younger days there were also some that were like solid chalk consistancy, although they were a sweet.
They said things like 'Be Mine' or 'I'm Yours'
What would forumers put as a 2/3 word slogan, good or bad, and who would they give it too?
dude
they still exist, but now they say things like "text me", "cyber love" , "email me".....no joke!
BoppinBruce 21-05-2005, 06:48 Dude,
I do say Swizzles still make them, and the examples I have given as written on them is in the past tense.......They Said.....
The obvious one would be to my ex saying YOU SUCK!!!
PhilMurray 21-05-2005, 06:57 CHASE ME!.............ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT ONE

Coconut flavour Boost
Do drinks count? I love Mountain Dew so much I have to get it imported from the US since they stopped selling it over here...
seanyboy 21-05-2005, 13:58 I remember eating these praline chocolate bars that came in a purple foil wrapper when I was little (around late 80's early 90's). There were a few flavour variations and I used to love them but I can't remember what they were called....
Secret bars were nice too, come to think of it.
