I understand your confusion - I was similarly confused myself for a while!

I think the answer is: Steve is NOT baby's Leah's dad, he and Amy are just saying so, so that Amy's dad doesn't give him a good kicking, and throws him out of the house.

The real father was indeed some schoolboy oik she met in the park once - he has never, to my knowledge, been seen on "Hollyoaks" since, but no doubt he will re-appear one day, and there will be a tearful reunion between him, Amy and Leah.

In the meantime, just let it ride that Steve is Leah's dad - at least, for the time being.

Yes this is one of the great issues of our time and you may be interested to learn that questions have been asked in Parliament about this very point.

Accademics disagree considerably on this point and indeed it has been the source of much debate and seminars have always broken up without any firm conclusion being reached.
