Bradfield School is closed tomorrow, Monday 22nd October due to a fire. Updates are to be on Radio Sheffield.

How bad was the fire ?

Just been told about this - no update on bradfieldschool.com though and not heard anything on radio sheff

My morning off college too, and now I have the brother to bug me :(

Not much damage, but it looks like the pumps & tank are damaged, so no water supply in to school.
Will update tomorrow when engineers report is in.

The school is definately closed on Monday. Enginers are due on site early on Monday morning. All of the school's water supply comes fron the tower, so there is no chance of making adequate sanitary arrangements for over 1000 people. As far as I know, the fire has damaged the pipe leading out of the tower and the control valves, this may take more than one day to mend. Watch this space for further news.

Theres a wooden door at the bottom & the tank is cladded in wood!

Where will the PE teachers make the kids run to and 'tag' now? Haha I so hated that game.

Apparently not, but one of the dead pigeons found in the water tower may have seen it all unfold before it's death. :(

But it can hurt other people though after it's death by spreading lots of horrible diseases through the water supply.

Perhaps it was a 'bright' pigeon, knew it was dying, knew that humans built it and lit the match in revenge!! :shocked:

My verdict: The pigeon did it. :D

I had many a crafty fag behind that water tower. I hope it can be restored to it's former state. It must be a listed building it's been there fore ever !!!

Just rung the school today - don't know yet if school will be open tomorrow. Watch the website/listen to the radio.

This is unconfirmed at the moment, but the message that I have just got is that the water is fixed and we are reopening. I'm still waiting on a call from the Head to make this definate.

*****We are pleased to announce that - "SCHOOL WILL BE OPEN TO PUPILS on Tuesday 23rd October" *****We have been able to put in a temporary repair which should see us through to the weekend. We would appreciate anyone who has any information re the attempted arson attack to contact school as we wish to prevent any further disruption to students education.
