I'm thinking about buying an LCD TV, my question is :

What is the resolution of normal TV from Telewest cable ?

I'm thinking that if I buy a TV with a higher resolution than the TV signal I'm wasting money as the picture won't be any more detailed or better quaility ?

AFAIK the picture is exactly the same as from sat or terestial although they are gonna bring out a HDD system that has HDTV available for when they start sending it

the resolution of an lcd tv that won't be used with a pc is irrelevant. TV broadcasts are very low res.
No point in trying to buy for HDTV, it'll be another 5 years before we get it based on progress towards digital only tv.

I don't have one to say for sure, but unless it has some way to connect it to a proper monitor then it's just a tv signal that it's putting out.

Yes, I see what you mean, it just goes into the SCART socket, but a proper monitor would have sockets for the individual r/g/b plugs.
