My Wife And I Both Have The High Rate Mobility, And For The Past 12 Years, We Have Used My Wifes Money To Pay The Deposit On The Car, A Certain Amount Is Taken From Her Allowance Each Month, And The Rest Is Paid Into The Bank. All My Money Is Taken To Pay For The Car.

We Have Just Been To Order Our Next Car And We Have Been Told That We Can No Longer Use Two Mobility Allowances To Pay For One Car. We Must Pay The Deposit In Cash Up Front.

We Read All The Magazins And Papers Regarding Motobility Etc, And Have Heard Nothing About The Change.

When I Rang Mobility I Was Told To Look For A Cheaper Car, Or Could I Perhaps Save The Deposit Of £2,300, Before Next May.

I Would Like To Point Out That The Car In Question Suits All Our Requirements, And We Dont Want To Change Cars.

yes the motorbility car scheme which you use your mobility has changed, you cant use two peoples mobility cash to have say a car for 3 yrs etc, 1 because the car has to have a reg owner in the person who is disabled,2 the up front deposit has changed now because what you get in mobility is not enough to get a top range car etc.the only way is to use the loan arrangement part on the motorbility web site and buy the car over a period of yrs then trade in etc
plus it depends on what car your talking

I AM REGISTERED DISABLED SO THE CAR WILL BE IN MY NAME.
THE DEPOSIT REQUIRED FOR THE CAR I WANT IS £2,300, WHICH IS MORE THAN COVERED BY MY WIFES DISABLED ALLOWANCE.

WE DONT WANT TO BUY A CAR BECAUSE OF ANY HASSLE WITH REGARDS, UPKEEP, MAINTENANCE, INSURANCE, ETC.
AS I HAVE HAD A MOTOBILITY CAR FOR MANY YEARS, AND BEFORE THAT I DROVE A COMPANY CAR, IF I WANTED TO BUY A NEW CAR I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TOP PRICE FOR THE INSURANCE. I AM CLASSED AS A FIRST TIME BUYER.

No you wouldn't- there is a facility for providing people who move from a company car/Motability car to a private car to have at least the 3 years that made up their last 3 year lease. All you need is a letter from them saying that you didn't make any claims in that time and you send that to your new insurers. I'm in this position since I'm driving a private car at the moment, after a Motability vehicle and numerous company cars- Motability and my fleet manager from work provided me with 10 years' no claims when I insured my own car.

I understand that you would rather have a Motability vehicle, but there are lots of vehicles with no down payment on now. Maybe you could choose one with less extra payment required?
