no its supposed to be a private parking company which is nothing to do with the council but liberally slaps parking tickets on cars if they think they have a right to a bit like wheel clampers
its part of excel parking or is a subsidiary
Skatiechik 21-01-2005, 08:47 Yes, they sent me a parking ticket for a hire car I had shared with someone. I wasn't the hirer of the car, the ticket came to my house with the hirers name on it, which I wasn't best pleased about. When the driver left it, the hire company was supposed to pick it up before the parking restrictions came into place.
But they never, the hire company then doctored there hire sheet to say I had it hired for longer, and told the VCS it was ticket.
Luckily we had a copy of the rental agreement :hihi: the hire company backed down and paid it.
There a nightmare though, if you ring them up its like 60p a minute and they refuse to talk to you and insist its your fault. Then threaten to take you to court.
367squadron 21-01-2005, 09:56 Yeh we have them behind our work.
Once a woman got clamped and got her other half to rip it off - and suceeded! But a few days later we got a police officer wanting to view our CCTV to use as evidence in court.
I do think though sometimes its a lot easier to pay a couple of quid rather than risking it and having to pay 70 pounds out for a parking ticket!
I agree, these people are rip-off merchants. I've seen them taking pictures of cars parked in a ristricted zone, sometimes the car has only been there a couple of minutes then they slap a ticket, then clamp it!

personally i would have asked the police who they are here on behalf of which would have been vehicle control services,
i would then have called them up and said - the video will cost ya £500 :D

One of the joys of living in a car hating council city centre residence is having to deal with these rip off licence to print money tw*ts!!
I recently got a ticket for a parking infringement at 5am, yes 5am!! On top of which, these fkrs didn't even leave me a ticket or letter saying i'd been fined, instead the first i knew of this was 3 months after the alleged offence when i received a £120 fine for not paying the initial £80 fine which i never received in the first place, and threatening court action if i don't pay in 7 days.
Needless to say i'm appealing on grounds of their incompetance but ultimately if they don't back down the threat of court action you can't do anything about because unless you qualify for legal aid who's going to be able to afford to take these b*stards on?
Mr. Simon Renshaw-smith should wear a mask!
my brother's friend got clamped in his car park once, by someone who was not an official clamper or landlord of the carpark/building.
He put a note on the car, "Release fee, £100" and his mobile.
Anyway, the clamp was a cheap one, leaving the wheelnuts exposed.
So we phoned the clamper, told him if he didn't unlock the clamp we'd just change the wheel and take his lock.
He soon came down to the car park, accompanied by three mates. Luckily there were five of us, plus the girl who'd been clamped and it was the girl who'd made the call, so he thought she'd be intimidated.
After a bit of 'debate', he took the clamp off and away we went.
It's just bully boy tactics. If you're in the right, stand up for yourself.
Where are these tickets being issued? Are you parked on the roads or in private car parks at the time? Surely only the council/police can issue tickets to vehicles parked on the road? Although if you're parked on private land that's a different matter.
I thought VCS only patrolled private car parks? If there are no signs up warning of being clamped then you can fight the case. If you ignore the signs (whatever time of day) then you'll just have to take the consequences.
I don't see how you can be fined other than by a court of law. Surely private individuals can't issue fines to other parties??

Legally it's not a fine. So long as there is a clear sign up notifying drivers of the charges, then by parking in the place drivers are entering into a contract.

Just let them take you to court for the money. They will lose as you can easily persuade a magistrate that this must be the same event and they have charged you twice. If they can't produce any evidence to the contrary then they will look foolish as common sense tells me they are trying it on.
AlquarUK 21-11-2005, 16:18 I always carry a hacksaw, just 'in-case'. Although I rarely leave my car unattended anywhere its not supposed to be, stands out too much!! ;)

And if you used it, you'd be guilty of Criminal Damage.
What I do is just avoid parking where I shouldn't, even if it meens walking an extra few yards. That way there's no need for a hacksaw.
