CHAIRBOY 19-10-2007, 18:22 Hamilton, a worried man?
http://www.sportinglife.com/formula1/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=formula1/07/10/19/manual_172910.html
As there are no set penalties for this infringement I can't see them deductiong points from Hamilton. Another fine for McLaren is on the cards though.
£10k fine, which was to be expected. There is now way the lad was going to start a few places down, or even at the back of the grid with so much money at stake for the FIA should he win.
CHAIRBOY 20-10-2007, 06:05 Just seen an interview with Dennis - firmly and squarely accepting it as a genuine mistake.
Grim Reaper 20-10-2007, 07:04 Plus it wasn't just them but Honda also.
is it just me or is Lewis getting a bit like Schuey, in the way that the FIA turn a slight blind eye to what Lewis do's...
Mind you i can see a 1 2 for Mclarean with kimi 3rd in the race... then a few hours after the finish FIA will say the Mclarens where under weight and take the points of them, handing kimi the championship :D
Love them F1 politics :)
you read it here first..
Plus it wasn't just them but Honda also.
And the Super Aguri team.
At the end of the day it was an error in Friday practice, not in the race and not even in qualifying. Of course Lewis was not going to be punished, he didn't gain anything by it. Another example of the media making something out of nothing.
Lewis just did one of his best qualifying laps of the year, to get 2nd on the grid for tomorrow (even though Massa was running on fumes). Let's hope he can finish the year in style with a race win.

Why blame the media? It must have been 'something' to have incurred a ten 'grand' fine.
Grim Reaper 20-10-2007, 18:20 Hamilton did have a good run in Qually, lets hope he gets a good start tomorrow.
Poor old Jenson on the other hand needs a new team.
Why blame the media? It must have been 'something' to have incurred a ten 'grand' fine.
Clearly an error on part of the team, worth the justification of the fine, but if it wasn't Lewis and wasn't the season finale, it wouldn't have made the news.
haddockman 20-10-2007, 20:25 As long as he thinks about the Championship this time, Massa will win I imagine simply because he is always amazing in Brazil!
tony decker 21-10-2007, 16:31 ITV usual crap coverage sinks to new lows
haddockman 21-10-2007, 16:34 ITV usual crap coverage sinks to new lows
 I've always thought their coverage is good (apart from the inappropriately timed ads!)
SpiderPete 21-10-2007, 16:48 Well what an interesting race so far.
Raikonen 2nd
Alonso 4th
Hamilton 10th
apart from the inappropriately timed ads!
Whic are now showing:D.
Well what an interesting race so far.
Raikonen 2nd
Alonso 4th
Hamilton 10th
I don't get why he felt the need to race Alonso in to turn 1:confused:.
haddockman 21-10-2007, 17:03 Big question is, will Massa give up the win in his beloved Brazil? I know he will, but he won't like it!!
sparklygem 21-10-2007, 17:06 Im watching it, its quite exciting!!
Grim Reaper 21-10-2007, 17:07 Its a hard race to watch very stressful.
Massa will have to concede, but it would cause more trouble if he didn't.

I think they will swap places when Raikkonen does his pit stop, Massa is stuck behind traffic.
This is quite exciting stuff.
Grim Reaper 21-10-2007, 17:12 He needs to pull something magic out of the bag now :o
He needs to pull something magic out of the bag now :o
Looks like Raikonen's gonna do it...
Grim Reaper 21-10-2007, 17:17 Looks like Raikonen's gonna do it...
As long as its not Alonso. :D
haddockman 21-10-2007, 17:17 How is he going to do it now :( :( Can't believe it's gone away from him so badly in the last few races! They'll regret the tyre thing in China now I'm sure!
As long as its not Alonso. :D
Equal 2nd with Hamilton (in the championship).
Raikenen wins by 1 point:).
Grim Reaper 21-10-2007, 17:34 Equal 2nd with Hamilton (in the championship).
I know, theres always next year :D
haddockman 21-10-2007, 17:37 Well, Congratulations to Kimi Raikkonen. His last few races have been fantastic and I'd rather him win over Alonso anyday!!
Hamilton's got so many more chances, roll on 2008 :D
It's also great when the Champion wins the last race of the season too!
JFKvsNixon 21-10-2007, 17:40 I know, theres always next year :D
He cant become the only driver ever to win it in his debut season next year though:(. The end of a disastrous week.
Grim Reaper 21-10-2007, 17:45 He cant become the only driver ever to win it in his debut season next year though:(. The end of a disastrous week.
Unfortunately not, but he's proved his worth this year, and we know exactly how good he is.
is it just me or is Lewis getting a bit like Schuey, in the way that the FIA turn a slight blind eye to what Lewis do's...

well i was close enough :hihi: Go Kimi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SpiderPete 21-10-2007, 17:49 Well who would have believed it, Hamilton so far infront and the last 2 races he blew it.
Contrgats to Raikkonen he just held it together in the 2nd half of the season, and he came from nowhere. I would prefer him to win it than Alonso.
1 pt between 3 drivers.
Grim Reaper 21-10-2007, 17:49 Poor old Ron Dennis looks absolutely broken. :(
haddockman 21-10-2007, 17:51 Poor old Ron Dennis looks absolutely broken. :(
It's been a tough season for him more than anyone I think, what with the cheating allegations, his drivers falling out etc etc!
Grim Reaper 21-10-2007, 17:53 It's been a tough season for him more than anyone I think, what with the cheating allegations, his drivers falling out etc etc!
Indeed, but 2nd place for both drivers is no mean feat.
haddockman 21-10-2007, 17:57 Exactly, hardly been a bad season for them results wise :) And at the end of the season, we've got a new sporting hero even if he didn't pull the championship off!
What crap TV coverage by ITV,far too many advert breaks, missed it when Lewis had engine failure & cutting to other cars when he was due to overtake. McClaren lost the race for Lewis by not giving him enough fuel on the 2nd pit stop.
haddockman 21-10-2007, 18:03 Yes the ads can be a bit of a pain sometimes, but that's just down to bad luck. It's better than putting it on Sky, they'd only do exactly the same anyway!! ITV only use the footage provided by the home broadcaster, so if we missed things, it's down to the Brazilian TV company. Personally I think ITV do a good job of the F1!
Indeed, but 2nd place for both drivers is no mean feat.
It also puts lie to Alonso's comments of "inequality" from the team.
I mean, how much more equal can you get?:D
Personally I think ITV do a good job of the F1!
It was better on BBC:thumbsup:.
haddockman 21-10-2007, 18:07 It was better on BBC:thumbsup:.
If there was nothing else on at the time, it was good! If there happened to be football on, it was talked over by football results/scores....brilliant!
JFKvsNixon 21-10-2007, 18:07 Unfortunately not, but he's proved his worth this year, and we know exactly how good he is.
I feel that he's lost the opportunity to be the greatest, he will be amongst good company with the rest off the greats like Sena, Prost and Schuey et al though.
An interesting question is where will Alonso go now, as Ferrari will be out of the question. Raikkonen will now want to be number one driver and world champion he will get it, and as we know Alonso wont accept that.
Tv coverage totally let down by having ad breaks during the race, meaning we missed the key event in the race.
By all means have breaks in the warm up,just before the start and right at the end but during the race its a total joke, does not happen in football.
This should be given to the bbc or sky.
...... McClaren lost the race for Lewis by not giving him enough fuel on the 2nd pit stop.
Nah, Mclaren lost it for Lewis back in China when they left him out on knackered tyres when they should have brought him in earlier, they shot themselves in the foot there.
Agree with everyone else about why Lewis felt the need to race Alonso?
Will Alonso leave, or will he stay?
I reckon he'll do a Montoya and b ugg er off to America
Not to sound funny but as a non newcomer to F1 ( unlike many ) im glad that kimi has won coz from now on it might just be a Hamilton overload just like the Schumey years was, coz he has the talent to pull it off..
For Kimi not to win it at any point would not be justice, as he has come close on a few times, just let down buy things out of his controll, so its bad for Hamilton for not doing it this year. but not even Ayton Senna cracked it in year one and Ayton is still the man and i can see hamilton being very close to senna greatness, in that no matter what is on the line wining is the drug he lives of, which may or may not have cost him this years title.
( not forgetting my raceing suit of kimi i got will now be worth a few more bob :hihi: )
My UK is sad for Hamilton not doing it, but the F1 fan in me is happy for kimi, and all this from a alonso fan at the start of the year, but o boy, the guy should just shut up and go raceing just like.......just like kimi :D
cressida 21-10-2007, 18:14 So disappointed for Lewis, but to tie with the last champion is quite a feat, congrats. to Raikkonen

Sounds like you're not used to watching the races live then!
In fairness, I think ITV's coverage has got a lot better in the last couple of years, since Steve Rider joined the team. They have been in the action at every race, whereas a few years ago they would have been in a studio for some of the far off races.
As for the ad breaks, they always try and get them in (5 during the race) at quiet points, i.e. during a safety car period.
Incidentally, I prefer the races that start early morning, as the ad breaks are much shorter.
Well done to Kimi - he's had the sheer speed for a few years now, and Lewis can still hold his head high as having done a superb job in his first year. He can only get better.
Grandad.Malky 21-10-2007, 18:49 This is quite exciting stuff.
I suppose it takes all sorts.
It was better on BBC:thumbsup:.
Quite agree with you there. ITV coverage is infuriating:rant:

I wonder if you can still place a bet on Hamilton being 2007 World Champion? :hihi:

Interesting!! Please let's not say the championship is going to be decided in a legal battle too

I can't see the FIA stripping Kimi of his title, they wouldn't want to upset Ferrari. :P
McLaren now set to launch an appeal, at most the FIA will probably just dock BMW/Williams constructors points.
Whoops! :hihi: (http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news/detail/071022220432.shtml)
The pressure got to him...
Still, a great showing for his rookie season.

McLaren now set to launch an appeal, at most the FIA will probably just dock BMW/Williams constructors points.I see that Hamilton doesn't want this appeal to go in his favour and give him the championship effectively by default. I could imagine the FIA, being as they are, upholding the appeal and awarding him the championship, him refusing to accept it and being stripped of some points and fined for being too sporting cos they don't seem to like that. They are daft enough.
