I've just got my first garden (came free with the house!) and wanted to put a small fruit tree in it. Can anyone give me advice on what sort of fruit trres grow well in Sheffield? I was thinking a plum or a bramley apple but have been told I need 2 other apples in the vicinity to pollinate it(eek).

Any recommendations are welcome, I'm a little lost here...

Try Ken Muir web site, they have lots of info about what trees you need for pollination and all different sizes of tree:

Never bought any trees from them but their soft fruit is great,

If you live in a town or city there will be loads of other trees to pollinate yours. We have discovered two plum trees growing near us so we planted our own. Our trees came from homebase and they are doing really well. They we for sale at £5 each. Didnt get any fruit off the plum but both apple trees fruited.
