Ally_Fraser 18-10-2007, 07:07 Hope they enjoy it mate, I love the old wrestling, them lads put on a great show!
Mind, there's plenty on here will be on to slag you off for going, but you can't hope for everyone out of thousands of members to be normal, tolerant human beings can you?.....

Big Godders 18-10-2007, 07:40 I will be there, screaming my 34 year old head off. Might even take a sign or two.
fox20thc 18-10-2007, 08:06 Apparently they are at HMV meadowhall today signing stuff.
"WRESTLING fans can meet their heroes when giants of the ring visit Meadowhall at 3pm Thursday.
Superstars from World Wrestling Entertainment will celebrate the release of the DVD, Great American Bash 2007, with a signing session at HMV. Fans can pick up free wristbands which allow them access to the signing.

MagicBert 18-10-2007, 10:47 I would've been going, if I hadn't had an operation yesterday which has stopped me :(
It's definitely a cool experience for fans, even if you have been before the novelty doesn't really wear off. So have a good time, all :)

The atmosphere is great, we went to manchester last year to see smackdown, but were right at the back. This time we`re ringside!!!
You can`t help but get into the shouting etc, its fab!

BasilRathbon 18-10-2007, 10:53 How on earth can this event be seriusly called "wrestling" when it doesn't feature jelly and naked women? In my view these events just trivialise a serious sport......

I would've gone but I refuse to pay £50 a ticket for what is basically a "house show", nothing important to the WWE storylines ever happens at International shows, apart from on 2 occassions, the late Crash Holly once beat William Regal for the European Championship right here in Sheffield a few years back, and more seriously the late British Bulldog threw a bin (trash can to the yanks) at Stephanie McMahon which caused her "amnesia" storyline and eventual on-screen marriage to Triple H when she was originally going to marry Test.

Hopefully yeh. Smackdown is coming back to Sheffield in April so hopefully i'll get to go to that :)

I must admit Rich i am disgusted at the prices £45 and no concessions for Children:rant: how on earth can they justify Charging that.
The only Reason i have shelled out the money for me and my partner to go is to take my little Brother there for his birthday.

I prefer RAW to be honest, on RAW the women actually wrestle and not just stand about looking cute and wearing skimpy costumes.
I don't rate the current women's champ Beth Pheonix though, far too butch! Even that big black woman who debuted on TNA last week was less manly.

Get China back she was Unstoppable she was.:hihi:
Get China back she was Unstoppable she was.:hihi:
She was annoying at first, cos all she ever did was interfere in HHH's matches, then she became more "womanly" and became the Women's champ in later years, and went a bit further up the list of WWE "Divas" I er, "would"
The current list includes Mickie James on RAW and Victoria on Smackdown.
MagicBert 18-10-2007, 12:05 Ah, the women don't bother me much to be honest. Amazing/Awesome Kong in TNA is just scary though...

Wrestling only comes Around once a year doesn't it not ???

Damn it Chicken Fillet Meal fro KFC it is then???:hihi:
It's the RAW brand, they always put on good shows.
I went to the RAW TV taping at the Arena 2 years ago, it was the last RAW before the 2005 Survivor Series PPV in the US, the show was good but there were far too many breaks in the action for the adverts on TV IMO, on TV it gives the impression that the match carries on through the break but it actually doesn't, and OK I'm fine with breaks between matches and segments but to to cut to the advert break DURING matches isn't on IMO.
dogsneck 18-10-2007, 23:27 Absolutely brilliant show. prices are what you would expect for this type of show.

dogsneck 18-10-2007, 23:43 WHAT,WHAT,WHAT
fair play to the guy, he did try to get the crowd going.
Has anyone got a programme from last night as when we went to buy the guy said he didnt have any change for a 20, i saw a tenner in his hand and said sell me one for a tenner then but he wouldnt. My boys really wanted one but didnt see any on the way out, so if anyones got one and they want to sell it me, drop me a pm and i will reply.
Thanks
What a fantastic night! We had a whale of a time, one of my boys actually got to touch triple H(wow, what a big guy he is), Umaga almst snotted on us(several times), I have a very, very sore throat and am losing my voice (hubby`s happy)due to all the shouting and screaming we were doing!
BRING ON NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Thats how female wrestlers should look, not girlie and pretty like the divas, most of which cant wrestle, the only decent divas i have seen that can wrestle properly are lita, trish and mickie. Bring back china she was a proper wrestler. I know that they will never get rid of the divas as they would lose half their audience ie men who drool over the divas lol.:D
my lad went to this with a friend their day was nearly ruined at the signing in meadowhall as they had waited from 7am till 9 for the wristbands and were told they could meet jeff hardy they got the bands and returned at time asked etc my son bought the dvd and got it signed but his friend had taken a wrestling t shirt and their security said no time for that and before he even met jeff hardy was ushered out of the store he was in tears and even though the meadowhall security asked them to let him buy the dvd then rejoin the back of the line as he had a wristband they were told no
luckily he was at the front of the audience and got to shake his hand at the event which made up for this the arena security were much better ,
thankyou to meadowhall security for trying and a big thankyou to the arena security for being patient with them as they launched over the barriers or a few seconds to my sons friend it meant everything
they loved the show and this morning cant even speak due to shouting so loud

Well m^rk, didn`t spot you (Idon`t think anyway). There were loads of people with united shirts on. At one point I thought I`d spotted you, as a bloke in a united top was looking our way quite a lot, but most of the people around us were looking because we were so loud(told you I had a big gob):D

Er, no I don't actually! :loopy:
As I've told people numerous times I stopped believing it was real when I saw the 1994 Survivor Series PPV and saw Randy Savage get bitten by a King Cobra and live to tell the tale, it was obvious the snake had been devonimised otherwise it would've killed him instantly a bite like that!

Is the Sheffield event going to be shown on sky if so when?
Is the Sheffield event going to be shown on sky if so when?
No, it wasn`t filmed.
Where ever it was on Monday night will be on sky. Monday Night Raw.
It was at the NIA (National Indoor Arena) in Birmingham and yes it was on Sky, at daft o' clock though so that the Yanks saw it due to their time zone differences.
Star_light 20-10-2007, 19:59 I WENT i loved it
im going to see smackdown can not wait
sufc_tom 21-10-2007, 00:56 Hmmm
My sisters took my their sons (my nephews) to the signing in meadowhall - got chatting to a mexican referee and a blonde one with a name beginning with C. Anyway, they took a liking too my sisters (might be something to do with them looking like models...I must have got the ugly gene...but thats another story) and to cut a long story short the refs were bored and needed to kill sometime...at my sisters home for english tea and biscuits! As a result of a few mugs of tea they got front row vip passes for nowt and also at the end of the show got some pictures with jeff hardy which was exclusive to them, a referee shirt and a vest from one of the wrestlers on show (forgot his name...but its a black vest if that narrows it down). Oh and also HHH made an indecent proposal at both my twin sisters (use your imagination) which was politely declined (or so im led to beleive).
Anyway, as much as a sceptic of WWE as I am, the kids loved it and got to meet all their favourites up close and personal.

Yeah it sounded alright! The vest top they got was someone called Mr.Kennedy.
Also seen the pics that they had taken with HHH, Jeff Hardy and the refs.
One of sisters now fancies Randy Orton...despite HHH's advances...
Mr kennedy`s shirt was tossed into the crowd, it landed directly behind us, so your sisters were on our side of the ring!
I love randy orton, he kept bending over directly in front of us.....................mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm:love:
get sky plus:rolleyes:
I have it, and I have WWE RAW, Smackdown and Extremely Crappy Wrestling (ECW) on series link to tape every week.
I can understand why kids would like this but what do "grown-ups" see in it ?

I`ve always hated it. But my kids love it so spending years of sitting with my boys, cheering in front of the tv, it rubs off on you.
Now I can`t wait for the next one, plus some of the mens bods are pretty good:love:

I used to love it as a kid, but that was when you had the colourful (spandexxed) characters like Macho Man Randy Savage, Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase, Ultimate Warrior, Ravishing Rick Rude, Tatanka etc. Pure entertainment, the same reason why people watch Hollyoaks, Coronation Street or Eastenders. My biggest criticism of wrestling now is that it moved away from that type of family entertainment in place of smut quite frankly, not that im sexist, but the womens matches are purely for curious teens or the older pervy crowd imo. Iv got to admit, since my nephews went to the Arena last week, I watched an episode with them and the WWE seem to be moving more towards the characters again like John Cena, that kid who is 'cool' and Great Khalil and thus making it more child friendly (not that I would want to wake up to my fold up computer chair smashed over my face by my 7yr old nephew).
Judging by the pics/vids my sisters got at the event, the kids loved it, my nephew froze when HHH spotted my sisters, saw my nephew, pointed to him and did the DX sign while maintaining eye contact with him. My other nephew danced to the entrance music and gazed at the firework display. I have fond memories of going to see Kendo Nagazaki at Sheffield City hall when I was 7. What my nephew saw is lightyears ahead of what I got and its a memory I am sure he'll treasure all his life.
It was an amazing night sufc tom, your nephews will defo remember it for ever.
My 6 yr old was shaking so much when it started that he couldn`t move or speak!
Their faces were priceless!!:D
