It takes two or three hours to travel from East to West across England.

If you enjoy wasting your life away in traffic jams, it's a great idea!

As for Will Alsop, his designs are pants - nobody wants to live in a 'Noddy's Toyland' town now do they??

The roads are congested enough as it is, can we expect to see a scaling down of the motorway to incorporate cycle lanes, chicanes, road humps, narrower lanes, residents parking (one space per 80 houses, wider paths and pedestrian crossings?

Other cities in the area are already feeling the squeeze as devolpment money is routed to Leeds and Manchester - a huge develpment of this type would only ghettoise the likes of Sheffield.

i have a question -

why would anyone want to commute to Liverpool, shop in Manchester etc etc in one day ???

With the way this country's road and rail is going, soon speed limits on both will be about 12mph and plagued with cameras, black boxes and even a conscience built into the dashboard (car) or fold down table (train) - SO IT WONT BE POSSIBLE!!
