View Full Version : Trials at Sheffield Court turtles123 16-10-2007, 12:44 Just wondering if anyone knows how to find out what the out come was of a trail. I was wanting to find something out but as i am not family i dont think they will tell me over the phone nick2 16-10-2007, 13:05 Arn't they in The Star each night ? bus man 16-10-2007, 13:57 the star are very hit and miss with what they put in somethimes you will get all the reports for a couple of days then nothing for months. I dont know if as a citizen you can ask for the out come because at the end of the day the court hearing is in public so therefore the information is within the public domain - mmmm Swan_Vesta 16-10-2007, 14:04 Can you go and watch trials from the public gallery or do you have to have a vested interest in the outcome of it? Tripitaka 16-10-2007, 14:12 What sort of trial was it - Criminal or Civil? Civil claim judgments will only be reported if they are deemed of interest by either party or the Court. Criminal Trials are a matter of public interest and you should be able to find out the outcome, however you will need to know whether they were in the Mags or Crown Court, person being prosecuted and the date and time of the trial. Of course all trials involving a minor whether they are the victim or Defendant will not be open to the public. turtles123 16-10-2007, 14:21 I know it was at crown court and i know person and date so do you think i can find out? Heyesey 16-10-2007, 14:33 I know it was at crown court and i know person and date so do you think i can find out? Yes, but I don't know how. Criminal trial verdicts are, as said above, a matter of public record. I just don't know where the record is. Ringing the court would at least get you an answer as to how you get to look at it, though. Tripitaka 16-10-2007, 18:51 You can either e-mail the Court at:- enquiries@sheffield.crowncourt.gsi.gov.uk or call them on 0114 281 2400. andco 17-10-2007, 20:30 all cases should be listed on the daily listings but without a case reference number you may have difficulty getting the information you want for data protection reasons. Be prepared to explain why you want/need the information. Anyone can sit in on any criminal trial/civil case unless the Judge clears the court for whatever reason. |
