Does anyone else think this is shown too much on TV?! It seems that almost everyday I end up watching someone being sick- as it happens without warning there's no way of avoiding it! If I ever have the misfortune of catching a 2 minute glimpse of Hollyoaks it always seems to have some teenager barfing, on Graham Norton the other night it showed some quiz presenter puking out of the blue mid-sentence, in Eastenders last night it happened! In fact I refused to watch the film "supersize me" as the 'highlight' in the trailer was the bloke vomiting out of his car window. Does anyone enjoy this? Why is it supposed to be funny?! I used to be very phobic about sick it but have calmed down now a bit but seeing someone chundering haunts me for days!

I agree totally. I like the medical dramas - Casualty, ER etc, but you can guarantee you get at least one technicolour yawn every programme. Blood, guts - no probs. Chunder? No, no, no!!

Yeh I hate it. One of the most unpleasant acts to see a human being doing. More sex and less puke I say!

I agree. Disgusting. But does anyone know what the special effects people use for faux vomit in the world of TV and films? Just curious.

I don't mind if it's in comedy, but in realistic programmes it probably happens to often, I havent pukes in years, then again alot of people drink nowadays.

Well Hollyoaks certainly makes me want to vomit (and is indeed a pile of puke itself).

But! I've yet to see anyone throw up and make it look like the real thing. The action is all wrong and it never looks like someone is really being sick.

A quick cough, billowing cheeks and one spurt of fluid is not how you usually vomit, is it? If my experiences are anything to go by, I get a sweat on, wonder around nervously thinking 'I am NOT going to be sick' and then walk, canter and then dash to the nearest loo or sink (or wall).

Then there's a cough during which nothing comes up but fresh air and a bit of spittle. Then, there's another where you can feel it getting lively down below and then suddenly when you think it's died down, it comes at force and the first lot, complete with loud 'accchh' always lasts slightly longer than your breathing allows.

Just as you try and grab a lung-full of fresh air, it's back and usually more violent and longer than the first load. The eyes water and there might be a bit of the shakes. Then you spend the next five minutes clearing your throat with grunts.

On TV it's a quick hand to mouth and suddenly, like spitting out hot tea, it's one spray and done with. On kiddies TV like Hollyoaks, someone always says 'Look he's drunk, go and get some coffee' (and when the programme finishes someone comes on to announce where you can get help if you've suffered from binge drinking as shown in tonight's public announcement broadcast).

Why this trash isn't on at 4 o'clock with all the other kids' tele beats me.
