View Full Version : What am I doing wrong with Nero???

I used Nero on my old PC.

I got a newer PC running Vista and now I can't get Nero to play ball.

It WILL NOT fit to a disc, every time I use (or try to use it) I've checked under the settings and it's set to 'fit to disc'. I set it going, 3 hours later it spits the disc out and asks me for another.

The first disc it's spent hours faffing with won't play on PC or DVD player and I'm getting ready to throw the entire thing through the window.

HELP PLEASE!!!!!! :help::help::help::help:

PS - pls keep it fairly simple ladies and gents, I'm not all that computer literate and I get confused more than easily!!!

Thanks!!!

I'm also having a problem with Nero and Vista. I can download the videos from my video camera (hdd) which is widescreen but it will only play in 4:3 and looks weird

I'm having a massive problem that I can't get my head round too...

I have an .avi file that I am trying to convert to dvd but it just keeps telling me it can't be added, I'm using nero vision 4 which I know works with vista as I have used it before (Many, many times) and there are 1 or 2 files that will add with the same extension....

Any ideas anyone...

Sorry to pinch the thread btw...

Just scap vista its more trouble than its worth ...Hundreds of people have reverted back to XP because there so many incompatibility issues ..... I tried it for two weeks and removed it (total waist of time in my opinion)

OK.

I'm getting mad.

I've downloaded ashampoo, it just keeps telling my disc cannot be recognised?????

I've tried standard DVDs and DVD-RW.

depends how the files been encoded, avis, mpgs etc arent all encoded the same way, to the same exact specification.
the odd ones you do find wont play or burn

depends what codec etc the other person used to encode it

just buy a cheap divx, avi, mpg playing dvd player for the telly then you can just burn the files to disc still as their files, still get the odd stubborn one but most play ok

Right.

I've also tried using the DVD burner program whatsit that comes with Vista and that's not working - it just says my disc is invalid or it can't be read or something????

I've tried using cheapo £1 shop DVDs and also DVD RW and neither works.

Out of sheer frustration I ended up plumbing my old XP PC up and burning using that one - it's working FINE and the discs I've tried unsuccessfully to burn onto on my Vista PC will work on my XP PC.

I want to cry!

Turns out it may be a codec for DivX that I tried a free trial of, would make sense, since that's when it started going wrong...

anyone know how to remove a codec, what they look like and where they are?
