he was so annoyingly arrogant, definitely. I was apalled at the way he was so unrepentant about what a total censored he was.

The way he treated his wife was despicable, and the incident where he turned his disabled son out of bed, and threw water or whatever it was, over him, was just beyond the pale.

As for the "pork pie in the veggie-meal" stunt, he'd have been eating his future meals through a straw. he didn't care how out of order he was.

I'd have definitely sloshed him one, if I'd have had to put up with him. The wife definitely seemed a bit cowed by him.

What comes to my mind is:- perhaps with the disability that she and the eldest son shared, maybe she didn't think she was worthy of being married to someone who was a card-carrying member of the human race...? maybe she settled for that louse, thinking he was all she'd have got? I did think she kicked off a bit OTT-ish at the supposed "state" of the Brighton house.

I was apalled that the vegetarian's children were allowed meat, too, without aparrently checking that there were no allergies or whatever that necessitated the vegetarianism.

The Brighton-based wife, I thought, didn't exactly treat her hubby that well, but even so, I thought that, as hard as his "deal" was, it was better than the other wife's.

Exactly what I thought and I think he thrives on that. I hated the fact that his 2 sons seemed to be becoming like there dad, bloody horrible man.

And he justified it all by saying he was a REAL man

yes he really annoyed me.you could tell she was scared of him more so on the wife swap aftermath i think she knew what she was letting herself in for when she got home.
the son was exactly like his dad so probably the son with have a son that also turns in to that monster.
i felt really sorry for the son with the medical condition you could tell the poor lad did not get up on purpose he had no clue what was happening he didnt even flinch when the water went on him.
horrid man:rant:

maybe she isn't so much an "idiot", but, like many women in relationships like this are either afraid to leave, or the "man's" behaviour has cowed them into submission/ so dominated their thinking processes that the woman can't "think outside the box".

It's called "learned helplessness", and is a very common feature of abused spouses.

You feel that you cannot function without the spouse's say-so, whether it's what make up to put on, or what to serve for tea.

The "healthy" son was definitely a chip off the old block, wasn't he? He showed that the apples don't fall far from the tree, my gosh was he his father's "mini-me" or what?
