I know The Rivelin are having the carol singers one night. JanP 15-10-2007, 19:31 Hi - I went to the Blue Ball at Worrall last Christmas and the local Male Voice Choir were singing traditional carols. It was excellent. I got the info from a website called something like "folk network" luybell 15-10-2007, 19:44 Hi - I was going to say The Blue Ball at Worrall & also the Robin Hood at Stannington. My Dad & Grandad always go & know all Sheffield versions. xgeminix 15-10-2007, 19:54 Thanks for letting me know about these. I seem to remember years ago going to hear traditional carols in a pub past Dore somewhere - maybe Ringinglow Road? Anyone know where I mean? The pub was packed I remember and the singing wonderful. vikki 15-10-2007, 21:05 the crown and glove at stannington do regually the land ladys dad is part of a group and i know the practise sometimes and then generally sing with all the regulars its always nice. muddycoffee 15-10-2007, 21:09 I used to play in brass bands, and most of the local bands spend most of december playing "LOCAL" carols around local pubs. They usually have all the well known carols as well as the specialised local carols. If you are really interested why not ring some of the local bands in december, such as Oughtibridge, Chapeltown, Loxley and Stannington for instance, and they will all probably have a list of pubs to visit, and would welcome people who wish to sing, may even have word sheets for you too. |
