"Sorry! The administrator has specified that you can only do one search every 15 seconds."

Eh? Explain.

i don't know - its probably not to overstretch the use of the server.

Disgusting! You tried to do 2 searches within 15 secs - just WHO do you think you are!?

:P :P :P

I'm not sure why that happens but I suppose searching must consume a lot of bandwidth, and it's probably a pre-defined limit in the forum software.

What I find more annoying is that clicking the search results takes you to the thread and not the specific post, so if you're looking for a specific post and it's within a 25 page thread it can be VERY time consuming.

that cos your clicking on the top link- thats the thread link- the one below it takes you to the post!

No I mean from using the Search site function. Case in point being:

I wanted to drag up a comment by nick2 to make a jokey remark, and I knew it was about mortgage and was by nick2, so I searched for that criteria and got the results:

http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=277362&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending

I then remembered it was in the Gay Scene thread, so clicked the link as shown above only to be greeted with page 1 of 24! It took many pages of scrolling carefully, scanning with my eyes, to find the actual post I wanted.

Is it to stop external software from 'searching'? :suspect:

Try selecting 'show results as posts' rather than threads.

Thanks Max. I thought that only applied to stuff entered in the box it's near. That'll save me loads of pointless searching!
