View Full Version : 2003 F1 champion?? Lou 01-09-2003, 15:41 Who's going to win this year's F1 championship? (OK, I've just seen a voting poll on the F1 website but I want my own!). Lindseyw 01-09-2003, 16:03 As a devout Schuey / Ferrari fan I have to say MS - although I also have to say if he does then it will be by the skin of his teeth -look how close the championship is already ! I believe/hope it will all go down to Suzuka and be won on the last race.... like the old days !! Party on if it does - my house 4am for pre race drinks !!! Looking at the performance in Hungary and the swift roasting the team got from Luca de Montezemolo they need to do something sharpish !! Lou 01-09-2003, 16:13 I voted Montoya (as a Montoya fan!) but I think it'll be damn close. MS's superior experience might give him the edge to nick it though... I think the last few races favour the Michelin cars though don't they? Which is good for Montoya ;) I hope it does go down to the last race too! It's definately been an exciting season. And on a side note: how fantastic is Alonso?! He's well impressed me. Lindseyw 01-09-2003, 16:27 Lou Said: And on a side note: how fantastic is Alonso?! He's well impressed me. HELL YEAH !! What talent !! I said all this right at the start - he'll go a long way that guyy and only 22 !!! I'll be willing to say that he will definately be a future W/C ! I have to agree with the tyres though - although there is the hoo-har about the Mich teams boycotting the races !! Rubbish with the W/C this close they can't afford to - all because the regulators are going to be checking tyres AFTER the race from now on and Slicks are illegal - guess who's tyres are a much softer compound and go down to Slicks....not Bridgestone. So if the FIA bring that rule in it should be interesting to see what Michelin do don't you think. Montoya - again such talent - a very very good driver, again a future W/C I reckon - bloody hell you got me started on something here didn't you ??? And I agree that Alonso is definately a future world champ. How relaxed was he on pole before the Hungarian GP?! Amazing. Classic Rock 02-09-2003, 11:15 MS always wins. Every time. Lindseyw 02-09-2003, 12:54 Originally posted by Classic Rock MS always wins. Every time. INDEED !!!!! Lou 03-09-2003, 11:35 Anymore votes?! :D Neo 03-09-2003, 11:42 I voted for Montoya.. I believe he has the talent and determination to beat Schumacher. We've seen how gritty he is earlier on in the season, and a couple of moves that he's pulled when races are started again after the pace car and such.. The rule changes they made have certainly given us an exciting season this year. I can't wait for traction control to be thrown out of the window. I agree that Alonso has quite some talent, I wouldn't be surprised to see him in a Ferrari in the next few years. alchresearch 03-09-2003, 11:51 Shouldn't this be in Sporting Chat? Lindseyw 03-09-2003, 12:04 Nope cos it's Sheffield Sport - not sporting chat :) Lou 04-09-2003, 11:12 Originally posted by Lindseyw Nope cos it's Sheffield Sport - not sporting chat :) I did debate putting it in the Sport one, but this thread isn't specifically related to Sheffield sport... :) Lindseyw 11-09-2003, 10:25 Well only 3 more races to go ......who's gonna win ???? All very exciting !!! Big Al 11-09-2003, 10:33 I have always supported the back markers or up and coming teams (supported ferrari for years but it got boring after the second year of winnning). Always wanted the Orange and Minardi team to do will but sadly one no longer exists and the other probably never will. Don't like Jordan but feel sorry for them. This year I would like the Renaut team to will. Sure its owned by a set of Surrender Monkeys but its a new and up coming team and it should all be about close competition. Cmon you yellow and blue's!!!!! Al :) Lou 11-09-2003, 12:01 Originally posted by Lindseyw Well only 3 more races to go ......who's gonna win ???? All very exciting !!! We'll have to see how these new tyre rules affect things... I'm furious that the FIA have decided to change the way a rule is interpreted part way through a season. OK, maybe I'm a bit biased because this is going to affect Montoya's team (and he's my man!), but if the end of one of the most exciting F1 seasons for aeons is messed up by changing the interpretation of a rule, then I find that a huge disappointment. Can't they change this rule from the start of NEXT season instead? Lou 18-09-2003, 11:57 Originally posted by Neo I can't wait for traction control to be thrown out of the window. I'm looking forward to traction control being scrapped too. Are they banning it from next season? And is launch control being scrapped too? Any F1 fans know the latest? Abdul 18-09-2003, 12:02 Schuey will win. Physically, he's more android than man. His heartbeat at rest is something like three beats a minute He's got broad shoulders but slim legs, so he fits into the cockpit easier but has the high upper body strength required to control the car at high speeds There we are, some interesting facts for you all ;) Neo 18-09-2003, 12:37 Originally posted by Lou Are they banning it from next season? Launch control I'm not sure about, I hope not because it's certainly helping Renault.. There's also a rumour of automatic gears being removed once again, the FIA are wanting F1 drivers to use their skill instead of driving a car that does everything for them. Lou 19-09-2003, 11:25 Thanks Neo. I'm certainly in favour of making the driver do more driving instead of electronic gizmos and gadgets on the cars. However, it would be a shame for Renault if launch control was scrapped given that they've got the best launch control on the grid. Yeah, M Schumacher is definately more android than man, Abby! I'm sure I saw something about his heart rate when driving at nearly 200mph and it was still an average 70-80bpm. :o But then he's capable of getting something out of the cars that no other driver can do, probably why he's 5 times world champ! Geoff 19-09-2003, 11:26 Moved this to Sports forum for obvious reasons :) (edited: changed sports forum to make it clearer :) ) Lindseyw 19-09-2003, 11:47 Just took me 37 phone calls to get a hotel for next years Silverstone...... can you believe it ??? Everywhere within 15 miles is fully booked. I did eventually get somewhere though.... very glad I did it now & not wait a while. Still have to vote for Schuey & I still think it will all go down to the last race...!!! Lou 19-09-2003, 12:02 Blimey, 37 calls! You're persistant! :D Do you go every year Lindsey? I've never been to a race but I've been to watch the testing at Silverstone (cos it's free!). We stay in a B&B nearby. I can't remember the name, er... Silverthorpe? I can't believe how difficult it is to get somewhere to stay already for next year. I'll keep that in mind if I ever get to go to a GP! Lindseyw 19-09-2003, 12:05 Well we had already bought the tickets for the 3 days and forgot about a hotel !!! Can't go on the thursday anymore which is a big shame...no don't go every year but with I could ! Lou 29-09-2003, 16:01 I'm gutted. My man Montoya is out of the running... I'm switching allegiance to Kimi now! Although it's a heck of a long shot for Kimi to win now... Lindseyw 30-09-2003, 15:20 It is still possible.......... unlikely but possible. of course as I said ages ago.....Schumacher WILL win ;o) mikey 30-09-2003, 15:22 I see Justin Wilson got a point at the weekend. Lets hope he gets a better drive next year. Lou 01-10-2003, 11:39 Yeah I'm glad Justin scored a point too. I think he's in danger of Jaguar not keeping him next year. Although I'm sure some of his race retirements haven't been his fault anyway and they've been caused by problems with the car. I hope he gets a drive rather than just a test driver job. There's too many drivers and too few cars! What do we make of Fisichella's move to Sauber for next season? Good/bad/indifferent? Or a desperate attempt to get in a car with a Ferrari engine with hopes of getting Barrichello's seat in Ferrari the year after? ;) Will Villeneuve get a drive next season? So much to talk about! Lou 01-10-2003, 11:40 Originally posted by Lindseyw It is still possible.......... unlikely but possible. of course as I said ages ago.....Schumacher WILL win ;o) I think Schumi's got it in the bag now! Lindseyw 08-10-2003, 11:53 Well well well well........ The last race of the season indeed......... Shcumacher needs one point to win the championship. Raikonnen need to win & Shcumacher to not score any points to win.... Down to the last race - I TOLD YOU SO !!!! Well I reckon as far as ability goes, Micheal is a sure thing, but wht about RELIability ? ? If that darn Ferrari fails it is game over for the fella. Fingers crossed - I for one will be up bright and early on Sunday morning to watch !! Any thoughts anybody ? Lindsey |
