Could you possibly tell me what sort of memory card you have?
For my Fuji (i no its a different camera) i am using a memory card reader. You simply plug the memory card into the kit, and use it as you use a USB stick.
The memory card reader takes SD cards, memory stick Duo cards, and another type which i dont no the name of

This may help? (http://http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-15-1-Microdrive-MMCmobile/dp/B000CDITCQ/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/026-6386238-3440446?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1192387356&sr=8-1)

Mine is quite a bit smaller than this, but i dont think it was as cheap.

If you can't find one in Jessops, Ebay wont let you down

If you haven't got an account, could you ask a friend who has to get it for you?

Maplins sell type A to type B mini usb leads. I bought one a few months ago, I think it was about £7.

But I think different makes of camera have different pin-outs at the business end. Best to buy a lead specifically for Canon cameras.

Never thought about that, could be right though.

if your not too bothered about the fact it "fell off the back of a lorry", try CEX at the verry bottom of fargate just up from Pizza Hut :)

I got one for my Canon IXUS 500 online from the Amazon Marketplace. If there's nothing there try Canon.

Canon will sell you one for £15 (https://store.canon-europe.com/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayPage&Env=BASE&Locale=en_GB&SiteID=canoncon&id=ProductDetailsPage&productID=42737300) (excluding delivery), but i'm fairly sure the canon cameras just have a normal mini-USB connection.

To be honest, unless you really need a cable for some reason, i'd recommend a USB card reader. It'll probably be cheaper, will mean you can read all sorts of memory cards should you ever need to and you don't have to worry about camera battery charge running out in the middle of transferring your pictures! :D

The 1 that I got from Amazon was £1.99 + 75p postage, have just checked and there are loads on Amazon starting at £1.97. The link is: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_ce/026-5150776-3603603?initialSearch=1&url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=Canon+IXUS+400+cable&Go.x=8&Go.y=10

No they don't. If it has a standard mini-b plug on the end then all you need is a standard cable.
I use my cables interchangeably and they all work fine.

Beware! - We have 2 different cameras and the mini plug is different on each one - they are about the same size but a slightly different shape if you look at them closely.

Belkin say their mini USB cables will fit the majority of cameras

...perhaps 51% ? :D

Better safe than sorry.

Which is fine, but it does mean that one of them at least is not using a mini b usb connection.
Canon cameras do use this connection and any such cable will work.
