Hello.
A cat has been wandering in our garden this last couple of days.
It's thin, wandering slowly about, mostly in circles and won't look up or respond when trying to talk to it.
It never stops meowing. I've just given it a little bit of milk, but it didn't go mad for it.
I'm not sure what to do about it, any thoughts?

My cat did that just before he was diagnosed with kidney failure:( My other cat is dreadfully thin and has hyperthyroidism but she eats loads! Is it yours?
If this is not your cat can I suggest that you call the Sheffield Cats Shelter tomorrow afternoon between 1.30 and 4.00 and tell them what you've written on this thread please? It doesn't sound at all well and would benefit from veterinary attention as soon as possible, and I'm sure that the wardens will do their very best to fit this cat in so that it can be assessed by a vet.
If this cat is either yours or belongs to a neighbour then please don't hang about- it could be anything from acute dehydration or a brain injury after being hit by a car through to dementia from your description.
Get this little one to a vets as soon as possible please.

thanks for the info.I'll see if its still here tomorrow and will ring the cats shelter if so.
If you'd have placed this half an hour earlier I'd be suggesting taking it down there this afternoon, but as it is there won't be anyone answering the phone this late.
My Mum posted this thread. I've seen the cat myself. Poor little bugger. It didn't look good at all.
What she didn't mention is that as much as she'd have liked to help this cat, she has to think of her cat. (my cat really:hihi:). He came from the cats home, and doesn't like other cat company one bit.
Although strangely, he normally fights any cat that comes near their house, even he just sat outside and watched other cat, without going for it. A cat with a conscience it seems:).
I'm popping round tomorrow so I'll see if it's still there.
any sign of the cat.
Nope. Mind you it's been raining all day. Might be hiding somewhere.
I rang a neighbour to see if they knew the cat and they do.It is very old and blind and it's now safely back at home

So glad that the cat is safe and sound....a happy ending :)
That's really good news Chris. Great that he's got a good home to look after him in his dotage.
I'm glad to hear he's back home too. No wonder he was appearing disoriented, poor lad. At least if he turns up again you'll know where to take him back home.
