It was on GMTV this morning that January 24th is official the most depressing day of the year, as worked out by 'scientists'...

Going on last year, I was on holiday on that date, so it was a lovely day, whereas I think Boxing Day was a bit of a bummer for a good few people.

They ought to get their facts right.

What kind of 'scientists' would bother to try and work that out anyway. GMTV annoys me so much.

Don't scientists have anything better to do.

Heard it on local radio this morning.

Some formula which takes into account all things like number of days since Christmas, number of days since start of New Years resolution, average time of arrival of christmas spending credit card bills coming in, day length etc etc etc.

Bloody academics nothing better to do :D

the 24th is the day before my payday so I'll be cartwheeling naked round the carpark when my wage slip comes through   :partyhat:

I take it you work for the council... That sounds exactly like the kind of thing they'd be doing instead of work.

Nah mate, not the council (spit spit!)...
But I know what you mean about their commitment to work!

So for the people unlucky enough to witness that then the 24th is definately the unluckiest day :hihi:

I take it Beachy Head and Golden Gate Bridge will be busier than normal then.

Just to report in...

The most depressing thing about the day so far is that I had to watch half an hour of GMTV (again), which is what started this crock of shid in the first place.

My bank have just "lost" £300 of mine, its gone from my account without a trace so it is turning out to be a bit depressing. Apart from that seems like a normal day.

What are the chances that this drivel has come from the U.S. of A.?

Maybe they can market it, design some cards 'Happy Unluckiest Day' and have a Bank Holiday to boot.

Pathetic.

Well actually ive had a pretty unlucky day. I got up earlier than usual, got out of the house and just as i was going round the corner to get the bus it drove away and the driver grinned at me. Ok, fair enough. that **** happens all the time ..

BUT

for the bus going home, i got to the bottom of rutland rd to catch the bus, the traffic lights turned green, and my bus drove past, i run for it, and he drives away and i see him smurking in the wing mirror. Twice in one day? Very unlucky...

Bus drivers pull stunts like that year-round. You can't single yesterday out. Part of me used to get upset about it, then I started thinking about how much hassle they must get on a daily basis... Now, if I was a bus driver, having to deal with obnoxious school-kids, old people moaning about everything on earth, (far too) young mothers tutting everytime I pull away from a bus stop before they've got little Harry and Sophie strapped in... I think I'd be looking for some sadistic pleasures during my daily route too!

My Missus came home claiming that it had been an unlucky day, simply because she'd had a bad day at work. Considering she moans about this every day, I took no notice.

As for this new national un-holiday coming from the States... I don't know, but I could well believe it. Although I'd expect they'd have Sept.11th pegged as a pretty depressing day... Or maybe election day. Who knows?
