Anyone know what weeks the year 10s do work experience next year. I've seen a great opportunity for my son but don't know what the dates are. I'm assured they are the same dates for all schools.

no.... the dates vary from school to school (otherwise it would be impossible to get enough volunteers)

My daughter said when she did work experience it was hard to get a place because other schools were trying for the same places so maybe it was just some of the schools were on the same dates. Anyway my son's school is Newfield so anyone know the dates for that? Last year it was on the newsletter but this year they haven't mentioned it. I looked up their website but they are still on 2006 with their newsletter.

Best phoning school to confirm. Most schools do the same fortnight every year, must be a collective agreement. Meadowhead is always 2nd week after whit just as GCSEs start

Most placements have competition for the places these days and a maximum number of students that will be taken on over the year (if only because of the amount of time and energy it takes to have a work experience placement student around the place).

I think some of the schools may be reviewing the whole work experience thing. Its certainly of benefit for some, but a lot of career choices can not be represented by work experience (health care for example) and the cost of insurance if fairly high.
