I concur. Whatever else is 'wrong' with Winehouse, she's a brilliant singer.

Well, we might not agree in the footy stakes but looks like we've found some common ground here. ;)

Sorry I feel like smashing the radio up whenever it comes on. I'm still hating Ronson too after that Smiths cover he did. The pair of 'em can take a long walk off a small pier for me. The sooner Winehouse OD's the happier my ears will be.

What an amazing voice. I've always liked that song, but she really makes it her own.

The singing voice versus the tats.. one of life's little paradoxes.

I love this song..Last week I was in sat in the car with my 2 daughters(19&15) waiting for my son when it came on the radio and I said ooo my favourite and turned it up really loud and sat jigging along to it,my eldest was sat at the side of me and joined in much to the disgust of my 15 y/o who was sat in the back going barmy for 'showing her up'...:hihi:

I'm with you on that one. I'm not one of those purists that hates every single cover, but it was BAD!

Got to say, i was a little dubious when i heard they were going to cover Valerie. As the Zutons are one of my favorite bands. All that said. It is a top version, so not for the first time, i can eat my words.

i agree, it is slightly less painful than being prodded in the eardrums with a blunt cocktail stick

Or even worse a James Blunt cocktail stick.

Sounds nothing like Steve Winwood to me.

Shocking cover of an excellent track by the Zutons (I hope).

She is so over rated.

Mark Ronson is a perfect example of how the music industsry is going down the pan. A so called musician who makes shed loads of money by doing his own versions of other peoples material.

I wonder what would happen if any unsigned band went to a major label with a cd full of covers and ask for a contract.

Amy Winehouse is ok, overated but tolerable.

I think Amy Winehouse's vocals on this are atrocious. Have not heard much of her other work, presumably she is like Marmite.

Not really.

Marmite's not been drilled into our brains by every radio corporation, publicised itself by having an openly volcanic personal life, and generally getting every Marmite critic to say that it's the best thing since sliced bread, and if we don't buy it, we know nothing about Marmite.

To be fair I think Ronson has seen a niche in the market and capitalised on it, just as Radio 1 & 2 have with their recent offerings (Live Longe/Dermot O'Leary/Established albums)
Cover versions of popular songs are all rage at the moment.

Please remember that this is Ronson's 2nd album. His first, Hear Come the Fuzz, is an excellent offering (IMO of course) All tracks are penned by the man himself. Please don't accuse him of cashing in now when he has been grafting for quite some time now.
