OK - I'll bite.

Do you have a sound card and speakers?

Try downloading the real player alternative codec:

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Real_Alternative.htm

And uninstall real player, its a POS

What actually happens when you click on 'listen live', does the BBC player actually pop up?

hmm that's weird. Try using it it in on a different player. I'm sure they have a ' click to hear in a freestanding player' button.

Have you selected the "British Ears Only" option?

Ah - you mean that BBC player :D (?) The Beeb are the only people that insist on using it.

Someone I know came across the very same problem.

I forgot who it was so never found out if they sorted it, sorry.

Perhaps reinstall software and try archived files to test the software?

Try using windows media ( god I never thought I would ever come to say that) I'm a bit of a radio junkie and I find it to be much more stable than real player. On the radio 5 website it gives you the option of choosing either.
What I would really recommened is getting a digital radio. I have had mine for over 2 years and I would be lost without it.

The music on PhanFM is much better. (
http://tori.screaminghost.com:8010/listen.pls (if clicking the link doesn't work, cut and paste it into the "open URL" field of your favourite media player (64kbps shoutcast stream))

When it doesn't sound like its been put through the gnarly audio mangler machine that the broadcast software sometimes metamorphoses into.
