In the last couple of days I have seen two young rottweilers with a full tail. Is it now illegal to dock them?

Yeah its illegal to dock them unless they are and you can prove a working dog i.e gun dog, personnally i dont like to see any dog with its tail docked our rottie has her tail:D

I love to see Rotties with tails, that good old wag seems to detract from the demonising they've suffered throughout the years, makes them look jollier somehow:)

Rotties, great dogs, not so great when they think they are the size of a Jack Russel and want to be lap dogs. I speak from experience

I too love seeing rotts with full tails... people say it makes them look unbalanced because of the extra length the tail adds to the body but I think they look great!!

It's now illegal to dock any dog's tail unless they are of a certain field working breed and have been bred purely as working dogs. You can't show docked dogs in shows where the public have to pay (such as Crufts) and you can only dock a dog (depending on the breed) if it's to be used as a working dog.

Dobermanns, boxers, rotties and some others are not on the exempt breeds list.

yours is gorgeous and dosent look like a cross! i have a rotti, he hasnt got a tail but loves wagging his little stump!! we were going to get rid of him as we have a baby on the way and hes very boisterous and very strong but i cant do it i love him too much and hes been through soooo much so im having him neutered and taking him on super long walks and hopefully it will do the trick! are all rottis mad or is it just mine????

Ours is just insane,

She runs around like a lunatic, and for hours on end. Although we do ahve another dog, a GSD Cross Staffy, basicly a minute GSD and he loves haveing her as a friend to run around with.

Although they make fantastic guard dogs lol.

my rotti doesnt bark as he was beaten wen he was young so doesnt bark very often hes just mental! im just slightly worried that he will knock baby over wen it arrives as hes so inquisitive, but hes definitley not a guard dog!!! hes way too soft!

we'll be seeing more and more over the years and it's no bad thing. Whilst I love my stumpy tailed daft doberman beyond measure, I know she would be just as gorgeous if not more so with the tail she was born with. (She can still give a mean 'waggy' with her little stump though!)
