While I'm aware that this walk way to the drop off/taxi rank/NCP car park is only temporary while the building works continues surely it would have made sense for the following:-

1/make sure its level!
2/Pot hole free!
3/Dry...i love having to paddle/wade every day!

They did fill a few pot holes the other day with tarmac WOW!! thanks eternally grateful!

BTW will the exterior of the station be sand blasted when all the work is done? and where are the new departure boards platform screens?

I'm surprised Plain Talker hasn't mentionned the absence of a pavement wide enough to fit wheelchairs or Churchill scooters.

Although I appreciate the work ON the station, concourse, travel centre, I am most appauled at the plans concerning the taxi rank, the walkways and this random stupid sculpture on the station front.

Back to topic, the present path isn't really accessible or usable as it's cut off just next to the carp park and again at the northside of the present taxi loop next to the metal wall-fencing.

I would have chipped in Captain Scarlet, had I been aware of this thread! ;)

for what it's worth,
I vehemently dislike the new design for the taxi -boarding area.

Inside the station, the plans for the new concourse and ticket office IMO, will be an inconvenience to any passenger that has luggage, pushchairs, mobility difficulties, or is disabled, becaue you have to traverse the whole length of the station, virtually, to get between the ticket office and the trains.

currently, pedestrian access is difficult from the howard street sie of the station, becsue of all the works, it's a nightmare. Its a real bind!

to quote my friend, Brian... " 'better' is the enemy of 'good' !"

Whilst the path is a flippin' nightmare at the moment, the parking arrangements are a drastic improvement. At long last they've realised that the multi storey should have free short stay parking (the previous 10mins was too little for purchasing a ticket or carrying grandma's case to the platform). It's now a far more sensible 40 mins.

The new pick-up/drop-off point has more spaces and flows much better. Any traffic which has to queue into this area no longer backs out onto the main rd.

I'm looking forward to seeing it all finished.

Shame they've ignored the fact that Sheffield has a beautiful victorian sandstone station in their 'improvements' though.

I'm not sure I agree with this point. The new ticket office is being built where the old taxi rank was, which is next to the Whistlestop shop. Therefore it will be closer to the lift than the current ticket office.
