Although this must of happend afterwards. Good job I am getting a lift home anyway. bobgirlsnake 12-10-2007, 11:19 South Yorkshire - Woodbourn Road closed both ways between the Parkway Avenue junction and the B6200 Staniforth Road junction in Sheffield, because of a serious fire. dccjb 12-10-2007, 11:21 Already stated on another thread, they need merging Meaks 12-10-2007, 11:22 That's rather inconvenient. Fortunatley I was lucky today and got the car to work. dccjb 12-10-2007, 11:24 I need to go that way to get to work , then again with a bit luck we might have closed for the day :hihi: medusa 12-10-2007, 11:25 Mod note: Threads merged. dccjb 12-10-2007, 11:45 Taken from Sheffield star website TRAFFIC ALERT: Explosion fears cause evacuation TRAM and bus services are today suffering major disruption after police closed off a Sheffield road because of fears that gas cylinders could explode. Police were alerted to the potential problem by firefighters called to a garage on Woodbourn Road, between Attercliffe and Darnall, at around 11am. They were dealing with a car fire at Don Motors when they were informed that cylinders of acetylene gas, used for welding, are stored there. Because the cylinders can explode if they get too hot, firefighters will have to be on stand-by at the garage for the next 24 hours. Businesses in the area have been evacuated and a 200 metre safety cordon has been set up around the garage, and buses and trams were ordered to stop running on safety grounds. Supertram has announced that for the next 24 hours it will run services between Meadowhall and the Arena and from Middlewood and Herdings Park only as far as Cricket Inn Road, Wybourn. In Uppers 12-10-2007, 11:52 Us forum lot are a bit slow today - normally there'd be pictures on here in seconds ;) nick2 12-10-2007, 11:54 Oh, well, the walk will do me good. dccjb 12-10-2007, 11:58 Unfortunately my company have decided to stay open  Dark Moomin 12-10-2007, 12:02 Does anyone know how the trams are running once you can get to one? I'm at Attercliffe and need to get the tram home from Arena to Middlewood. I can prob ably get a lift to Cricket iNn Road to get a tram home, but if its gonna be a nightmare journey I'll scarper early (yay flexi time!). dccjb 12-10-2007, 12:04 Theres no transport in that area for 24hrs, you will have to get to Cricket Inn Road, but they wont let you drive through Attercliffe Dark Moomin 12-10-2007, 12:12 Theres no transport in that area for 24hrs, you will have to get to Cricket Inn Road, but they wont let you drive through Attercliffe Yeah, that's fine, I can get to Cricket Inn Road, but just want to know if the trams are running as normal (ie time wise) from there, or is the whole system gummed up? Heyesey 12-10-2007, 12:14 Yeah, that's fine, I can get to Cricket Inn Road, but just want to know if the trams are running as normal (ie time wise) from there, or is the whole system gummed up? No transport means exactly that. No cars, no buses, no trams, and they won't let you walk through the area either. dccjb 12-10-2007, 12:16 They should be running on time in all other areas Dark Moomin 12-10-2007, 12:23 No transport means exactly that. No cars, no buses, no trams, and they won't let you walk through the area either. Yes, I understand that, but there are other roads that aren't part of the cordon. I will be able to use those to get to Cricket Inn Road..... Crikey, anyone would think i was asking the answer to Life the Universe and Everything! Meaks 12-10-2007, 12:27 Its unlikely they will be running 'on time' as any kind of timetable will be out of the window, however I imagine by now that they will be running with the same sort of regularity. Dark Moomin 12-10-2007, 12:29 Its unlikely they will be running 'on time' as any kind of timetable will be out of the window, however I imagine by now that they will be running with the same sort of regularity. They update fairly regularly on any public transport issues :) Meaks 12-10-2007, 14:49 The latest updates (as @ 1450) are: Passengers for Nunnery Park And Ride to get off at Cricket Inn and need to walk at trackside to the Nunnery Site. Passengers for Nunnery P & R with pushchairs need to get off at Hyde Park and walk via Bernard Road to the Nunnery Site Supertram are currently trying to arrange bus transport from Cricket Inn Road towards Meadowhall. Tram tickets are now also valid on Northern Rail journeys only between Sheffield and Meadowhall (DayRider and MegaRider - upto 1000 Saturday) Cazzerb65 12-10-2007, 14:55 Well I havent been evacuated (boo hoo!) - I work just on Woodbourn Hill. Lorries were stopped from visiting us but apparently its safe for us to sit in the office LOL!! Caz slimsid2000 12-10-2007, 15:00 Are trams to Hillsborough running OK? Meaks 12-10-2007, 15:02 Are trams to Hillsborough running OK? Blue route is running as normal. Yellow trams are running from Middlewood to Cricket Inn Road. foxydebs 12-10-2007, 15:15 My mate has just rang me from work, blue route is running ok but yellow route is running from middlewood to nunnery square depot and one of his inspectors has told him that they have not managed to get a replacement bus service sorted yet. They are trying to run as regular as they can but obviously not to the exact timetable. If you want to travel between town and meadowhall I would say the train is the best bet if they are saying the day riders are valid on there, lately the x78 just turns up when it wants. slimsid2000 12-10-2007, 15:31 Blue route is running as normal. Yellow trams are running from Middlewood to Cricket Inn Road. many thanks. Ms Macbeth 12-10-2007, 15:45 Mod note: Threads merged. Meaks 12-10-2007, 17:22 They are running some sort of bus service now between Cricket Inn Road and the Arena. Edit: There is now a shuttle bus in operation and this will be running between Nunnery Square Park and Ride and Sheffield Arena. There are 3 buses currently operating and the timing of these will depend on the traffic.
