View Full Version : Living Room Bar
I'm bored at work so I started surfing the internet (Monday morning)!! Don't ask me how I got to it but I found myself on the Living Room website (www.thelivingroom.co.uk) and it had a section on the Sheffield venue but no details whatsoever. I was wondering if they were opening one and where as the ones in Manchester and Nottingham are fantastic bars!
yes, it just says coming soon...there's no press releases on the site about Sheffield so it must be some way off yet.
I wonder if its at Tiger Works down West Street as when I walked past it the other day there were some buiders in there.
pontious 01-09-2003, 12:03 It just looks like one more, chrome, wooded floored, trendy nonce bar!
When are these people going to realize that we want REAL pubs like The Dog & Partridge, Grapes, Fagans, The Washington, Red Deer etc, etc!
Classic Rock 01-09-2003, 15:57 .............and the Classic Rock Bar. Ooooeffff....
jayjay03 01-09-2003, 18:23 My only brush with ultimate fame was at the one in Manchester when the Neville Sisters (Phil and Gary) and Mr Beckham himself were in there not so long ago (V.I.P at least anyway). To be honest, Sheffield lacks in quality bars so I personally believe it'll be a welcome addition.
mr craig 01-09-2003, 18:35 A very welcome addition if you ask me,the more bars like this the better, especially if its on West St!!!
pontious 02-09-2003, 12:49 Sorry boys and girls but its bars like them that end up destroying top pubs like the 'old' Hallamshire on West St, whoever had the bright idea of turning that place into what it is now *SPITS* needs their bowels removing with a rusty blunt spoon!
E-Man Groovin 02-09-2003, 13:02 I like the nu-skool bars (beautiful lasses, gr8 music, feeling that you are hip just for being there) as well as the old-skool pubs (nice cosy corner with your mates, warm & friendly atmos, games like bar billiards & pool!!)
Don't be such an old fogey Pontitious - put on your day-glo 80s retro gear and party!
p.s. did you know that I used to own the domainname "thelivingroom.co.uk"...?

True words, mate, but not just the Hallamshire - every single pub in West St. It used to be one of the best pub crawls in the city, now it's just cack. Progress? Who needs it?
fnkysknky 11-11-2003, 18:54 Each to their own - lots of people love the new bars that are opening up everywhere otherwise there wouldn't be much point. Personally I prefer the newer bars at night and a good old pub in the day :)
Wouldn't it be boring if all bars were the same. Each to their own, I say - there is room for all types of bars & pubs: Nice shiny new bars and traditional pubs each have their place
Speaking of modern looking pubs.. Anyone know what is being constructed in the former 'National Centre for Popular Music' building?
They've polished the exterior, and built a bar inside the one 'pod' for lack of a better term.

It's the new Hallam Student Union as far as I know. Shame they stopped using it as a nightclub, it was great :)
I do agree that turning the Hallamshire into the BRB was wholly inappropriate and looks a disgrace. This is a heritage pub building and should not have been allowed.
This is not to say I am against bars of that style, as just up the road is Muse, where they have turned a crappy Irish theme pub into a very smart bar with character, and just for the quality finish they even sell real beer.

PaulTansley 13-11-2003, 05:46 There was a queue a mile long last Saturday.
