I just heard one of those HSBC 'Local Knowledge' adverts, and it said that in parts of Yorkshire it is cosidered lucky to take a horse through your house before you move in! :loopy:

Has anyone else heard this? Or any other odd Sheffield / Yorkshire customs?

There's a joke doing the rounds about it being the coal mans horse ...but it would get me banned if it was repeated on the open forum....I wonder if kirky would post it :heyhey:

I've heard that it's very lucky to take a snowy Leopard through your house before you get married. Well actually its just very lucky for the leopard as they are at the point of extinction and any evidence of one being led anywhere would be good news for the spiecies.
But I wouldnt recomend it, as they are a little volatile and any modern appliance would set them on a rampage - it would be carnage - but on the plus side you could then book a smaller reception - assuming you were one of the lucky ones who'd survived:|

However ... if you are dyslexic ... please do not try taking your house through a horse ... results can be very messy ...

Obviously you'd break the house down to bite-sized chunks and feed them up it's bum ...... gather them all up the other end ..... and reconstitute the whole sticky mess.

Viola ...... a hourse.

Knocking this thread slightly back on topic ;)

It's reputed to be bad luck to take a spade through the house.

That's a bit unfair. What if he's interested in buying it?
