PS. I have one of Peat's Race worn Blue world cup GT shirt along with a Royal racing Jersey I got from a Plumber in Sheffield  mc55 10-10-2007, 22:31 it's a great place, used to have well marked trail, but me and my G-Spot have no been out for a while. Waffer 11-10-2007, 09:18 Yes i go mountain biking in there, some is great fun, and some is dead boring, so be careful where you go, i go running through there as well and drop down and run through beeley wood, thats great, its not far though and can be done in under an hour. oldgreen 11-10-2007, 13:04 yup, ride and trail build up there all the time. Take a look at www.wharncliffe.info for the trail building dig days and more info on wharncliffe. lee79 11-10-2007, 13:32 Used to go there to bike a long time ago (probably ten years ago). Came across very few people but when I went up recently could not believe how much busier it seemed. yorkie75 11-10-2007, 17:08 Thanks for the replies guys, will give it a go when I'm next in Sheffield, I hear its Peaty's stompin ground, just been to Fort William to see him race, shame about his seat, still you can tell he's a true Sheffield lad riding the rest of the course with no seat and just a post sticking up his arse:loopy: I'm originally from Sheffield but moved down Cornwall bout 7 year ago and must admit the mountain biking is better up north, used to like the Peak District, not enough forests down here but the coastal paths are nice. Waffer 11-10-2007, 17:30 Yorkie, yes the coastal paths are great i did crake in scotland, fantastic, only i lost the car keys, and they charged me £200.00 for another set..... good crack though. SV500 11-10-2007, 19:42 i met peaty (and wife) up there the other month he's as down to earth as they come, the xc and dh runs are continualy being built and improved, being more of an xc rider the down hills are a bit too silly for me and my bike :o:suspect:, you can ride some of them slow, but others you need speed to ride .. and about 6" of plush travel from the susspension :hihi: im up there most saturdays JJ.. yorkie75 11-10-2007, 20:12 I saw Peaty driving out of Fort William Morrisons with Nathan Rennie, I could tell it was him cos there was a box of stella in the back window:hihi: oldgreen 11-10-2007, 20:50 Steve Peat rides there, i beleve he has a pro built race track there aswell. Urm not quite. The Wharncliffe riders collective have been working with the FE for 2 years up there building new trails, XC and DH. There is a new DH track which is a mod to an existing one called Fastrack. Peaty did help us this summer when his foot was a bit dislocated and he supports the trail development with input on trail design etc. take a look at www.wharncliffe.info (http://www.wharncliffe.info) for more stuff about the trail building. iamthemoon 14-10-2007, 22:27 I love doing the trials down there. Can get buisy there though. Ive got and old school 'Orange' Hard tail. Bike is still top banana. I dont see many ppl with hard tails (if you excuse the expressen bomming about any more.) any one got one and enjoy the routes? yorkie75 15-10-2007, 08:48 I love doing the trials down there. I dont see many ppl with hard tails (if you excuse the expressen bomming about any more.) any one got one and enjoy the routes? I've rode hardtails for years, got an old marin but just purchased a Specialized Stumpjumper FSR and am so glad i did cos its the Dogs danglers its lighter faster and puts a smile on my face every time i ride it:love: oh and it can be turned into a rigid just by flicking the switch on the front n rear shock. I hope the mods understand the biking term Hardtails or this post may get deleted:hihi: ashdamash 31-12-2009, 13:42 I've been riding up there now almost every weekend for the past 3 years, great place with awesome tracks don't ride xc tracks but the downhill tracks well they have levels really the first few are easy and the further you go the harder and steeper they get, I still can't ride the steeper stuff in the wet without falling but that's just down to having the bottle to let loose ;) met peaty when I was riding spoke to him real nice guy sound as a pound! |
