View Full Version : Night out Tuesday 23rd October

Been a few weeks since we had a Group night out so here goes for the meal get together that we've been promising ourselves all year!
The vote`s gone with the Indian/Thai/Chinese all you can eat restaurant Estikutum on Staniforth Road for Tuesday the 23rd of October at 8.30 p.m.
The total cost is £8.90 each, and as it says, thats for all you can eat..... starters, mains and desserts.
I have been to Estitukum before and can well recommend it. For more details about the place, including its` location, see www.estikutum.co.uk. Particularly interesting is the 'Tonights Buffet' section.
Regular walkers, occasional walkers and non-walkers are all welcome, and anybody who is thinking about coming and has a problem getting there, pm me and I'll try and get lifts sorted.
Just by coincidence, a regular Sunday walker will be celebrating their birthday that night, but the persons name will have to remain a secret just yet I'm afraid. Sorry to have to make everybody wait a while to find out this persons identity, but unfortunately a certain "Gran" needs to be informed of the proposed birthday bash first :)
As numbers will have to be confirmed in advance, I'll need people to be definite about whether they're going to come or not for this one. Cheers.

Put me down for this - seems I'm first in the queue for the food! I hope they have some healthy (salad) options or that we plan a long walk the following week to burn off all those calories.

Thinking of calories are there any watering holes nearby where we could meet for an aperitif (read pint :))

Yummm, I'm always up for food!! Count me in! Don't know what to do about Hubby though. They are always SO considerate at the restaurant and give him about a day's notice with his shifts. Apparentlly you don't get a life if you're a chef!

I'm sure some of the WG members must think I don't actually exist, seeing as I go on so few walks nowadays, but just to prove that I am real I'm not just Scoobz's evil alter ego, I shall walk the tiny steps from the buffet to the table for this meet... I am real honest!

It'll be nice to see old chums and new ones :D

Watering holes nearby are a problem, cos there arent any apart from those horrible places near the junction of Staniforth/Attercliffe Road.
However............we could meet in town first if you want to imbibe some more calories b4 we get there!

The Number 52 bus goes from outside the university and stops right outside the restaurant, but Saul & I are taking the tram at 7.58 from the university to Woodbourn Road, which is just round the corner from the restaurant.

See you there, or on the tram if you decide to catch it! :)

I can not come to this because I only eat standard English food.
Chinese, Indian, Japan along with the rest actual repulse me and upset my stomach.
Having said that I hope everything goes well and you all enjoy the evening.

What anyone else wants to eat, I have not the slightest interest.
I'll buy them the meal if need be, Provided I'm not present whilst they are eating it.

If its cooked without the spices or flavours. No problem.
We've been going to the divorce court scores of times through just this item.
Elaine like curries - I hate the smell of the poxy stuff
I could go on for every.
I hope that you all have a good night out, to night.

I really enjoyed last night - the company and the food, I just love curry and the spicier the better. Thanks to scoobz for organising this and apologies again from Romania Girl for not turning out. Happy birthday again Neily and sorry I forgot your card - never mind I'll save it for next year:hihi:

I was just thinking Monday = cloudy, today Wednesday = cloudy, Tuesday - scoobz organises walk = bright sunshine; got some friends in high places there scoobz:)

Good choice, Neily. Food really good and company even better. Hope you had a nice birthday-a choir sounds like a good idea to me-if we sound that good when not a drop has been taken, then imagine the heights we could reach when well oiled! (you always sing better when p****d, dont you?) :hihi:

A lovely night with a bunch of lovely people. What incredible value for money it is at Estitukum too - 6 trips to the table for £8.90! Anybody beat that?
And what a good night it was despite the lack of alcohol (can't believe I'm really saying that :o) However, the Walking Group reputation is shot to pieces now I think. Just hope nobody finds out that 18 walkers had a night out and there wasn't a drop of alcohol drunk between them. Having said that Parkwoman seemed to be supping something beer-like, not a restaurant smuggler really PW are you?

It was a good evening, wasn't it?! Not sure it's good for you, going to a place where you can just keep eating; I thought I'd never have to eat ever again! I didn't even get to try some of everything before being too full up!

I can't believe I was the only person who took a camera with me! lol Anyway, photos will follow when the films are developed.....there are only two or three of them, but still, it'll be nice to have them for the record! lol
