My computer crashes when i play a movie in media player + real player. It's really annoying the programmes just stop the whole computer and after a few rigorous clicks of the mouse there's a beep and i have to restart the computer. Does anybody know what is wrong and how i could fix it?

Could it be something to do with my video or graphics card even tho these have been fine since i have had the computer?

Thanks in advance.

It can sometimes conflict with something such as P2P software.

Do you have any running?

errm well if you cant sort it try another player i recommend the vlc player very good http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ it could be something as simple as a codec problem, but with it being the same in real player it doesnt sound to be that!!

You could be trying to run the software on a machine that needs a bit more memory and "power" to be able to run..

You certainly won't be helping your PC though if you start running it and don't let it sort itself out before clicking away... On a win98/ME especially that sort of thing always resulted in a crash as the system tries to respond to more clicks and the main program.

Beyond that you may also be trying to run the movie in a format that isn't compatible with the movie players or requires a codec (like a driver file) to run... The delay could be the software attempting to locate and download that codec..

All of that said though, it could be a whole slew of different issues... certainly more information on the Operating system, and when you're attempting to click the system on (ie: within a few seconds or after a minute or so...
