View Full Version : Warnock for Palace?
VC Bet report a weight of money for Neil Warnock to take over the managerial vacancy at Crystal Palace and the firm have been forced to suspend the market as the ex-Sheffield United boss was supported heavily on Monday.
Spokesman Neal Wilkins admits that the early price of 9/4 was too tempting for many.
"We knew it was a tempting price when we went up with the market, and the punters wasted no time in taking it. We ended up at evens before we decided to suspend betting," he said.
Gingerbarf 09-10-2007, 14:52 Reports in todays Sun say he will be announced as Palace manager before end of week after being invited to Jordans birthday bash??
Gingerbarf 09-10-2007, 14:53 Oh yes, thats Simon Jordan's birthday bash not boobs Jordan. lol
happyhippy 10-10-2007, 00:45 Looks like a shoe in to me. Good luckto him. Proved me wrong at United when I was far from sure of what he'd do when he joined. I lived for many years near Crystal Palace as a kid, and so, apart from 97, I wish neither them, any ill will.
scottishdude 10-10-2007, 08:00 There is a vacancy at Norwich now so if he doesn't like the hustle and bustle of London he might opt for some Home Cooking at Norwich.
Albert Tross 10-10-2007, 08:58 He was keen to point out he wanted to manage in London when he left the lane didnt he.
I imagine the boardroom meetings between him and jordan would be intresting !!
Good luck to Neil.I only wish he was back at the lane instead of that fool Robson.
ReginaldD 11-10-2007, 08:38 I imagine he'll get a warm welcome on his return now you all appreciate what he did for you.
Agent Gypo 11-10-2007, 10:36 I never wanted him to leave, and would still love for him to come back!
Good luck Warnock.
Bladesman 11-10-2007, 10:37 I don't wish he was back at the lane as manager.
Although I do wish him luck at Palace.
Ousetunes 12-10-2007, 09:58 There'll be loads of humble pie on sale at the Lane when Neil comes with the Palace later in the season.
I feel this is a good move for him. He obviously gets on well with the Palace chairman Simon Jordan (who speaks a lot of sense IMO) and the two of them can certainly transform the club's poor early form - naturally they beat the Blades - into top 6 challengers.
I hope Neil gets a warm welcome when he returns to the Lane and I genuinely wish him luck.

.
Strange, it's only 4 years since Jordan was threatening Warnock with a writ!
As an aside; it's just reminded me of when I was "invited" by A Palace supporting acquaintance, to their (home) game against Birmingham; just after Steve Bruce had left Palace to take over the Blues, and there was a bit of ill feeling in the air.
The Birmingham fans, were singing that Simon Jordan is a 6 letter word beginning with "W", (in their distinctive south Birmingham drawl) that suggested his sex life was restricted entirely to his imagination.
On hearing this, a boy of about six sitting immediately behind me; asked his Dad:-
"Dad, who is Simon Jordan?
Ousetunes 12-10-2007, 14:05 geocol - I'm merely going on comments stated on BBC's Teletext service. Jordan was stating that he used Warnock and United as a marker to compare Palace with. He says the Blades were always a hard working side who were difficult to beat and so on and that if Palace were to compete then they had to be sitting near to United in the league.
Maybe the niceties will not last long and it could prove a bit too much having too 'mouth pieces' at the helm of a club. But I personally feel the two will work well together and that if Palace get on a roll, they could be hard to stop.
I shall watch with interest.
I bet they beat us at the lane, god how bad will that be for robson.
