Does anyone know of a decent and cheap (or are they mutually exclusive) carpet shop in Sheffield that will supply and fit. Had a leaflet through the door offering "Natural Carpets" at £7.99 per sq yd (thought using non-metric measurements was illegal these days?) including fitting, this seems pretty cheap to me??
There's a genuine factory shop in Barnsley. Shaw's carpets (next door to Shaw's carpet factory). Really good quality, hessian backed, wool, supply and fit. Some absolute bargains to be had if you choose from the discontinued or roll ends.
If you're interested I'll look for the details

Economy carpets behind Halfords on Queens Road. We got our son's bedroom carpet from there a few years ago and they did a good job for us at an excellent price.

I think that was the one a friend reccommended before I found Shaw's
I went to several places but eventually bought an off-cut/end of roll from Cole Brothers. It was less than half the price it should have been if from a larger roll. If you can find the colour you want (they have a board at the back of the department) at the size you want it's great. Bit more expensive than some places, but fitters were great and feel that I have got nicer carpet (80% wool) than I would otherwise have been able to afford - enough to do 2 bedrooms!

Same reason I tried Shaw's then. No retailer markup to pay either.

Yep, pretty much! Unfortunately I don't have a car, which makes going to lots of these places a bit tricky, and Cole Brothers easy to get to. Shaws probably cheaper, but I have had flooring from John Lewis in the past and found them very good to deal with (can not speak for Shaws, I'm sure they are very good too) so was happy to pay a bit more.
Not so bad not having car for for buying carpet, because obviously don't have to carry it home - but lugging stuff home from Homebase on the tram or B&Q on bus not fun. So tend to stick to places I can walk to.
Thanks for the recommendations. Will have a look at those places. I too dont have a car so will probably stick to the ones easily available by bus.
Thanks
