Please be aware that a 3ft hutch is nowhere near big enough for a rabbit and does not meet Rabbit Welfare guidelines, it also needs to have a head height tall enough for it to stand on it's hind legs. An average sized rabbit needs a hutch at least 5ft x 2 x 2. I hope you will be very happy with your pet but please take a look at the link for some guidelines on rabbit housing requirements and the problems that can be caused if they dont have adequate housing and exercise.

3ft is FAR too small for a rabbit to be kept in. No rescue or responsible breeder would rehome a rabbit to live in such a small hutch.

A 5X2X2 hutch with large run is more suitable. Also are you aware that rabbits should be kept in pairs, especially when living outside?

They are sociable creatures and need companionship.

You really can't put a bun in a 3ft hutch!!

I love that hutch too- if I had the space that's what I'd go for.

You've been misinformed. Guinea pigs and rabbits shouldn't be kept together. Guinea pigs can be harmed by an accidental kick of a rabbits legs. This thread covers the relevant argument:

A boy rabbit must be kept with a female rabbit.

He will need neutering as soon as his plums drop (around 4/5 months) to stop him impregnating the female and also to stop the anti-social behaviour pubescent male rabbits tedn to develop such as spraying, humping, circling and occasionally aggression.

The female needs to be speyed at 6 months to stop her suffering false pregnancies and to prevent hormonally related aggression. 80% of female rabbits who are left unspeyed will develope uterine cancer by 5 years old.

Expect to pay £35-55 for castration and £50-70 for a spey

Myxi & VHD vaccines are between £15-£20 each.

A pair of rabbits MUST have a hutch no smaller than 5X2X2 preferably 6X2X2 and a large run for exercise.

This is why Gpigs & Bunnies cannot live together:

Rabbits and Gpigs cannot be kept together for a variety of reasons:
1. They are not the same species, cannot communicate effectvely and do not get the same level of companionship from each other as they would from their own species.
2. Rabbits often bully GPigs and injure them, sometimes unintentionally. Deaths have been reported.
3. They have different dietary requirements....GPigs need more Vitamin C in their diets than rabbits and rabbits need a much lower protein diet.
4. Rabbits carry a bacteria known as Pasturella in their respiratory tracts. While this has no effect on most rabbits it is lethal to GPigs.

That's a bit of a contradiction in terms isn't it? A 4ft hutch does not have loads of room!!!!! Does it have a large run??

I won't repeat what Sooz has said because it's all true. Pets at home shouldn't be misinforming you about this.

Is the 4ft hutch a brecon? Red picture on the door?

The hutch is not big enough for a dwarf lop at all and you cannot put a guinea pig with the rabbit and nothing else in that size hutch.

Which store was it?
