You could go to Fagans pub on Broad Lane. They have music sessions most evenings from 9 onwards. (Not Thursdays or Sundays.) Different musical styles on different evenings. Mondays and Wednesdays are pretty eclectic - and those nights blues and country get played as well as more folky stuff.

I wish I'd seen your post yesterday because I run a session there on the first Wednesday of the month.
