View Full Version : Problems with links on this forum
Sorry, don't know where to post this since I can't find the feedback forum anywhere. (I'm sure there was one, has this been removed?).
Anyway, is anyone else having a problem with links? When I click on a link, it opens it on the page open and doesn't launch a new window anymore. I keep shutting down the window when finished then realise that I've closed the forum.
Is this just me or everyone? If everyone, is this a new change?
There was a thread about this morning. You need to email Geoff about changes to the site. I think its inbox (at) sheffieldforum.co.uk (dont forget to replace the (at) with @)
Cheers.
Didn't see the post from this morning. A search didn't bring it up when I posted.
Sorry for the duplication.
I came across that but did not find it to be a problem, after I had done it and worked out what had happened.
No its not just you hun. :P
I don't understand - when did links EVER open in a new window? The only links I knew to do this were the profile links, and they still do.
Foxxx
Strix recently opened a thread on the same subject but it was closed before I could reply.
I too am having the same problem and damn annoying it is too, having to re-enter the website from scratch.
I hope they change it back to how it was before.

When you clicked on a link it opened in the same window so that when you clicked the little cross in the top right hand corner after you had finished with it, the link disappeared and you were back on the forum page where you were previously.
Now when you click the cross you are taken out of the Forum website completely.

They used to I promise you. All links did, which was useful when in the I'm bored forum! Also when someone refers you to another thread, you could look at it and close it and be back where you were. Now, I close it and realise I'm back to my desktop!

I've found the thread from this morning. As it was closed, it has gone right down the list so I didn't see it, and it didn't come up in a search so I've ended up duplicating it! Anyway, don't want the forum inbox to be inundated, did someone email it about this?

Ok I know what you mean now - I thought you meant links in general, as in links to threads, forums, etc. You mean external links posted within threads, and yes they did used to open in new windows but don't anymore. As I said to Strix, just hold down shift and click them and they'll open in a new window (or right click them and choose "open in new window").

Top tip t020  but it was easier before.
